
Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has introduced its new luxury MPV, the Xia, at the 2024 Chengdu Motor Show. Directly targeting the Lexus LM, the Xia is a spacious PHEV with a striking design.
The Xia’s exterior aligns with BYD’s signature style, featuring a large trapezoidal grille, sleek LED headlights, and a flat roofline. Sliding rear doors and a roof spoiler add to its premium appeal. Inside, although not fully revealed, the Xia is expected to boast a high level of technology and comfort.
The Xia is built on BYD’s cutting-edge PHEV platform designed expressly to support PHEV drivetrains, featuring a specialized body structure for enhanced efficiency. Equipped with DiSus-C intelligent damping body control, the Xia offers superior ride comfort and stability.
Inside, the Xia boasts DiPilot advanced driver assistance, DiLink 150 smart cockpit, and a high-performance chip for a seamless and intuitive driving experience.
Powered by BYD’s 5th-generation DM hybrid powertrain, the Xia combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a powerful electric motor. While unconfirmed, the vehicle is estimated to have an electric-only range of 200 km.
The Xia is slated to hit the Chinese market later this year with priced between ¥300,000 and ¥400,000 ($42,300 and $56,400 USD).
