Renault is giving the Scenic E-Tech Electric a substantial update for the 2026 model year, bringing new battery options, faster DC charging, upgraded driver-assistance technology, refreshed styling and a more connected cabin.
The electric family car, which first launched in spring 2024 and was already updated in 2025 with features including One Pedal driving, now gets its most comprehensive revision yet. The biggest changes are focused on the powertrain, with the range-topping 220 hp version gaining a new 89 kWh NMC battery and a future 67 kWh LFP option.
Despite the updates, the Scenic E-Tech Electric retains its focus on practicality. It remains 4.47 metres long and weighs less than 1,900 kg, while continuing to use the Renault Group’s medium electric vehicle platform.
Up to 642 km of Range
The headline improvement comes with the new 89 kWh NMC battery available with the 220 hp (160 kW) powertrain.
Renault says the updated Scenic E-Tech Electric can travel up to 642 km (399 miles) WLTP on a single charge. That’s an 18 km improvement over the previous 87 kWh version, which offered up to 625 km of WLTP range.
The more important upgrade, however, is charging performance.
The previous version required around 37 minutes to charge from 15% to 80% using a DC fast charger, with average charging power of around 150 kW. The updated model reduces that time to 28 minutes, while peak charging power remains at 150 kW.
In other words, Renault has focused primarily on improving the charging curve rather than simply increasing peak charging power.
New 67 kWh LFP Battery Coming Later
Renault is also preparing a 67 kWh LFP battery for the Scenic E-Tech Electric. This version will be offered at a later date as a more affordable alternative to the larger NMC battery.
The LFP-equipped Scenic will offer up to 467 km (290 miles) WLTP of range and is expected to charge from 15% to 80% in 24 minutes.
Peak DC charging power rises to 165 kW with this battery.
The LFP battery uses Renault’s cell-to-pack architecture, which incorporates 232 closely packed pouch cells. Renault says the architecture achieves 53% packing efficiency while helping improve range and overall efficiency.
The new battery technology is already used in the updated Renault Megane E-Tech Electric.
220 hp Powertrain Remains the Long-Range Choice
The 89 kWh and 67 kWh batteries are associated with the more powerful 220 hp Scenic E-Tech Electric.
The lower-powered version remains available with a 125 kW drivetrain and 60 kWh battery, marketed as the E-Tech Electric 170 Comfort Range.
Renault has not announced a battery change for this version.
The Scenic continues to place its battery beneath the floor, helping lower the centre of gravity and distribute weight more effectively. Combined with its relatively compact dimensions and sub-1,900 kg weight, Renault continues to position the electric Scenic as a practical option for both urban driving and longer journeys.
Refreshed Exterior Design
The 2026 Scenic E-Tech Electric also receives a visual update.
The electric family car is now offered in seven exterior colours, including two new shades: Satin Blue Slate and Exo Galaxy Grey.
The front and rear bumper splitters now feature a gloss-black finish, while Renault is adding new 19-inch and 20-inch wheel designs.
The 20-inch aero wheel covers available on the Iconic trim contain at least 72% recycled material.
More Sustainable Interior
Renault has also revised the Scenic’s interior, with new materials and trim treatments across the range.
The Techno trim receives redesigned front seats and a rear bench covered in PET fabric containing more than 95% recycled yarn. The cabin also features textured coated fabric containing at least 12% recycled material.
The dashboard is finished in Carbon Black with a textured surface and contrasting stitching inspired by the world of electric vehicles.
The Esprit Alpine version receives a new “spectral titanium” interior treatment, with trim parts containing at least 75% recycled ABS-PC material.
The range-topping Iconic trim continues to offer two interior colour options, along with updated decorative trim.
Renault has also expanded the available storage solutions, including additional compartments and a new dual boot floor.
Improved Driver Assistance Technology
The updated Scenic E-Tech Electric gains a series of driver-assistance improvements.
Adaptive Cruise Control is standard, while Active Driver Assist is available on selected versions. Both systems have been upgraded to provide a more detailed analysis of surrounding traffic.
A new Multi Target function can track several vehicles simultaneously. The system is designed to better identify vehicles that are merging, cutting in or slowing down, potentially making the car easier to manage in heavy traffic.
Active Driver Assist also receives an enhanced “realistic view” that displays detected vehicles more clearly.
Temporary lateral positioning within the lane has been made more responsive and remains available at speeds of up to 70 km/h. An emergency stop assist function can also bring the vehicle to a complete stop if the driver fails to respond.
Renault’s predictive eco-driving function uses connected map data to anticipate roundabouts, bends and junctions. The system can provide recommendations intended to reduce energy consumption by up to 6%.
New Smart Driving Mode
Renault is also updating its Multi-Sense driving system with a new Smart mode.
Instead of requiring the driver to manually select between Eco, Comfort and Sport, Smart mode can automatically change the driving mode depending on the driving situation.
For example, the system can provide Sport-like responses during an overtaking manoeuvre before returning to Eco mode during more relaxed urban driving.
An advanced driver-monitoring system is now standard across the Scenic range. The camera-based system monitors fatigue and distraction and can also support driver recognition.
With driver recognition enabled, the vehicle can personalise settings such as the driving position, multimedia system, navigation and ambient lighting.
Google Gemini and Improved Connectivity
The Scenic continues to use Renault’s openR link infotainment system with Google built-in.
Google Maps receives additional route-planning options, including the ability to select charging networks, charging-point power output and payment methods.
Another major addition is Google Gemini, which is available as an alternative to Google Assistant. The AI assistant can understand more complex natural-language requests and provide context-sensitive responses.
Owners also receive 2 GB of data per month for three years, or until the end of their lease agreement with Mobilize Financial Services under the specified conditions.
A new magnetic, ventilated wireless smartphone charger is compatible with the Qi2 standard and MagSafe-equipped iPhones.
Solarbay Roof and Bidirectional Charging
The Scenic retains several features that have helped distinguish it from other electric family cars, including the openR link system, Solarbay panoramic roof and bidirectional charging.
The model supports an 11 kW bidirectional charger, with an optional 22 kW system.
Regenerative braking can be adjusted using steering-wheel paddles, while the One Pedal function introduced with the previous update remains part of the package.
Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric Prices
Pricing varies by market, but France provides an early indication of where the updated Scenic is positioned.
In France, the new Scenic E-Tech Electric is available to order from €38,750 for the Techno long-range version with the 89 kWh battery, or from €270 per month under the specified financing offer.
The upcoming 67 kWh LFP Comfort Range version will be available to order in France from €31,750, or €240 per month, from autumn 2026.
Renault has not yet announced German pricing for the facelifted model. Existing German prices are listed from €43,000 with the 60 kWh battery and €48,000 with the previous 87 kWh battery, while the French pricing suggests that the revised model could be positioned at a lower price point in some markets.
Built in France
The Scenic E-Tech Electric continues to be manufactured in France at Renault’s Douai plant, part of the ElectriCity production cluster.
The battery is also assembled in Douai using cells produced in Europe, while the electric motor is manufactured at Renault’s Cléon facility in Normandy.
The combination of European production, multiple battery technologies, improved charging performance and a range of up to 642 km makes the updated Scenic E-Tech Electric a stronger proposition for buyers looking for a practical electric family car.
