Renault Trafic E-Tech Electric Priced From £38,000 in the UK

Renault has revealed UK pricing and specifications for the new Trafic E-Tech electric, its next-generation electric van and the brand’s first software-defined vehicle (SDV).

Starting at £38,000 plus VAT, the new electric commercial vehicle combines a claimed range of up to 292 miles, ultra-fast 800V charging and a practical load capacity designed to meet the demands of business users.

Already named International Van of the Year 2027, the new Renault Trafic E-Tech electric is designed to make electric commercial transport more practical, offering a combination of efficiency, versatility and advanced technology.

The UK range will include two trim levels, advance and extra, two body lengths, panel van and crew van configurations, and a choice of 60kWh and 81kWh batteries. Pre-orders are now open, with the first customer deliveries expected in the second quarter of 2027.

Renault Trafic E-Tech Electric Introduces Software-Defined Vehicle Technology

One of the biggest differences between the new Trafic E-Tech electric and conventional electric vans is its software-defined vehicle architecture.

As Renault’s first SDV, the electric van is designed to receive new features, software improvements and additional functionality throughout its working life. This means its technology does not have to remain limited to the capabilities available when the vehicle leaves the factory.

The advanced electronic architecture also allows businesses to integrate their own applications directly into the vehicle’s systems. Delivery operators, for example, can display routes, delivery schedules and job information through the dashboard. Businesses using refrigerated conversions can also integrate dedicated applications to control and monitor onboard equipment.

Renault’s approach also supports more advanced remote diagnostics and predictive maintenance, potentially helping fleet operators identify problems earlier and reduce vehicle downtime.

For businesses operating commercial vehicles every day, these capabilities could become an important advantage, particularly as fleet management and vehicle connectivity become increasingly important.

Up to 292 Miles of Range and Ultra-Fast 800V Charging

The new Renault Trafic E-Tech electric will be available with two battery options, allowing businesses to choose a configuration that better matches their daily driving requirements.

The entry-level 60kWh battery is primarily designed for urban operations and shorter delivery routes. Businesses covering longer distances can opt for the 81kWh long-range battery, which delivers up to 292 miles of WLTP combined range.

Both versions use a 160kW electric motor producing 355Nm of torque. A combination of aerodynamic improvements, a heat pump and an efficient energy management system helps reduce electricity consumption to as little as 17.2kWh/100km.

Renault claims the new electric van is nearly 30% more efficient than its closest competitors, although real-world consumption will depend on factors such as payload, driving conditions and temperature.

Charging performance is another major selling point. The 81kWh version features an 800V electrical architecture and supports DC fast charging at up to 190kW.

Under suitable charging conditions, the battery can reach 80% capacity in less than 20 minutes. Renault also highlights that the Trafic E-Tech electric is currently the only medium-sized electric van available in the UK with 800V architecture.

The van also offers vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, allowing compatible electrical equipment to draw power directly from its battery. This can be particularly useful for tradespeople who need to operate tools and other equipment at locations without access to conventional electricity.

V2L is standard on the extra trim and available as an option on advance models.

Practical Cargo Capacity With Up to 1.3 Tonnes of Payload

Despite its electric powertrain and advanced technology, the new Renault Trafic E-Tech electric remains focused on the practical requirements of commercial operators.

Buyers can choose between two body lengths: 4.87 metres and 5.27 metres. Depending on the configuration, the van offers between 5.1 and 5.8 cubic metres of cargo space, with enough capacity to accommodate three Euro pallets.

The maximum payload reaches 1.3 tonnes, while towing capacity is rated at up to two tonnes.

Renault has also paid attention to manoeuvrability, an important consideration for businesses operating in crowded urban environments.

At just 1.89 metres tall, the electric Trafic can access many height-restricted car parks. Its 10.3-metre turning circle, comparable to that of the Renault Clio, should also make navigating narrow streets and tight loading areas easier.

The cabin has been designed to provide a more comfortable working environment, featuring a fully digital instrument display, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and 32 litres of storage space.

Rear suspension designed to maintain ride comfort, even when carrying heavy loads over uneven roads, adds to its everyday practicality.

Renault Trafic E-Tech Electric Advance vs Extra: Equipment and Features

Renault will offer the new electric van in two equipment levels: advance and extra.

The advance trim already includes a substantial list of standard equipment, meaning businesses do not necessarily need to spend extra on essential technology.

Standard features include a 10-inch digital driver display, a 12.3-inch openR evo multimedia system, wireless smartphone integration and Google Play Store access.

Driver assistance and convenience equipment includes adaptive cruise control, front, rear and side parking sensors, a reversing camera, automatic emergency braking and an electric parking brake with auto-hold.

LED adaptive headlights, manual air conditioning, hands-free access and start are also included.

The extra trim adds several comfort and convenience upgrades, including metallic paint, additional airbags, automatic climate control and an enhanced driver’s seat with additional adjustment, lumbar support and an armrest.

Other additions include wireless smartphone charging and HERE navigation.

Businesses can also specify a mobile office configuration, 230V power sockets and additional load-area equipment, making the electric Trafic more suitable for specialist commercial applications.

Renault Trafic E-Tech Electric Price and UK Availability

The new Renault Trafic E-Tech electric will start at £38,000 plus VAT in the UK. The final price will depend on the selected battery, body configuration and equipment level.

UK pre-orders are scheduled to open on November 5, 2026, with the first deliveries expected in Q2 2027.

With its 292-mile maximum range, high-speed charging, competitive cargo capacity and software-defined architecture, the new Trafic E-Tech electric represents an important step in Renault’s electric commercial vehicle strategy.

Its combination of practical working capabilities and advanced connectivity could make it an interesting alternative for businesses considering a move away from diesel vans, particularly those operating in urban areas or managing larger delivery fleets.

The biggest question will be how its real-world efficiency, pricing and operating costs compare with established electric van rivals once customer deliveries begin.
