BYD and Iberdrola Launch Electric Car Charging Package With Discounts in Spain

BYD and Iberdrola have joined forces to make electric vehicle ownership more affordable in Spain, introducing an integrated charging package that combines a home wallbox, discounted electricity, and savings across the public charging network.

The initiative, marketed as Plan Recarga Inteligente (Smart Charging Plan), builds on the companies’ strategic partnership and is designed to simplify the transition to electric mobility by reducing charging costs both at home and on the road.

The offer is available to customers purchasing a BYD electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid in Spain. It brings together charging equipment, installation support, and preferential energy rates in a single package.

One of the main benefits of the agreement is access to a home charging station. BYD customers who arrange installation through Iberdrola can obtain a wallbox at a significantly reduced price.

According to Iberdrola, customers pay just half the market price for the installation, representing potential savings of 969 euros.

The package is intended to make home charging more accessible while giving electric vehicle owners a convenient alternative to relying exclusively on public charging stations.

The partnership also includes benefits through Iberdrola’s Plan Recarga Inteligente electricity tariff.

Customers who sign up for the plan receive a discount on their home electricity contract equivalent to the energy needed to drive approximately 10,000 kilometers per year over three years.

The tariff is based on an electricity price of €0.25 per kWh, including taxes, according to the offer details.

This arrangement gives BYD customers an opportunity to reduce their charging expenses over an extended period, particularly those who can charge their vehicles regularly at home.

The benefits extend beyond home charging. BYD customers also receive discounts when using Iberdrola’s public charging network in Spain.

The offer includes:

– 50% off public charging: Available for the first six months at selected locations within Iberdrola España’s charging network.
– Free 12-month membership: After the initial promotional period, customers receive a free subscription to the Plan Recarga + service, normally worth €9.99 per month.
– 20% charging discount: The membership provides a 20% discount on public charging sessions.

These incentives are designed to make longer journeys and charging away from home more affordable.

The partnership also highlights Iberdrola’s growing role in Spain’s electric vehicle charging market.

The company has installed approximately 100,000 public and private charging points across the country and operates a public charging network with more than 12,000 operational charging points.

Luis Buil, Smart Solutions Director at Iberdrola España, said the agreement would give BYD customers access to charging infrastructure supported by smart electricity tariffs and an expanding public network.

For BYD, the partnership provides an additional selling point in an increasingly competitive electric vehicle market. While vehicle range, pricing, and technology remain important considerations for buyers, access to affordable and convenient charging can also influence purchasing decisions.
