Octopus FleetBoost Offers UK Businesses Up to 30% Savings on Public EV Charging

Businesses operating electric vehicle fleets in the UK can now access discounted public charging through Octopus Energy’s new FleetBoost scheme, with potential savings of up to 30% on charging costs.

Available through the Octopus Fleet platform, FleetBoost brings together multiple charging networks under a single discounted charging plan. Octopus says businesses could save up to £730 per vehicle per year, depending on mileage and charging usage.

The scheme is designed to address two of the biggest challenges facing commercial EV fleets: the cost of public charging and finding suitable chargers when drivers are away from their usual locations.

FleetBoost is a subscription-based service that gives commercial EV fleets access to reduced public charging rates across participating charge point operators.

At launch, the scheme includes MFG EV Power, IONITY and Be.EV, providing access to thousands of public charging points across the UK. Octopus says additional charging networks are expected to join the programme in the future.

According to Octopus, its £730 annual saving estimate is based on a vehicle travelling 15,000 miles per year at an efficiency of 0.3 kWh per mile, with the calculation taking the FleetBoost subscription fee into account.

That could make a significant difference for businesses with larger electric fleets, particularly those whose drivers regularly depend on public rapid and high-power charging.

Public charging availability remains an important consideration for businesses transitioning from petrol and diesel vehicles to EVs.

Octopus says its analysis found that 99% of UK areas covered by FleetBoost are within 14 miles of an eligible charger, while 95% are within nine miles.

The company says the growing network of participating charge point operators should give fleet drivers greater confidence when planning journeys and reduce the difficulty of finding compatible public charging infrastructure.

IONITY also brings its high-power charging network into the programme, while MFG EV Power and Be.EV add thousands of charging locations across the UK.

FleetBoost is the latest addition to Octopus Fleet, a platform launched to help businesses manage the transition from conventional vehicles to electric fleets.

The service combines public charging, home charging and fleet payment tools in one platform. Features include automated reimbursement for employees charging company vehicles at home, public charging management and a Visa-backed fleet payment card for businesses operating mixed fleets.

Octopus has been expanding its fleet-focused services over the past year. Its Business Payments Card gives fleet operators a way to manage charging and other vehicle-related expenses while providing access to spending and charging data through a central dashboard.

The company has also integrated Monta Hub into its Electroverse charging platform, adding tools for managing chargers, users, payments and energy consumption.

Separately, Octopus Electroverse provides access to more than 1.5 million public charge points worldwide, spanning more than 1,600 charging brands across 40 countries.
