Kia has expanded its range of electric vehicles eligible for the UK Government’s Electric Car Grant (ECG), with the new PV5 Passenger 7-seat now qualifying for a £1,500 grant across the range.
The grant reduces the on-the-road price of the seven-seat electric MPV to £35,495 for the entry-level PV5 Passenger 7-seat Essential. The Plus and recently introduced Elite versions also qualify for the £1,500 incentive.
The move makes Kia’s versatile electric people carrier more accessible to families and businesses looking for a practical zero-emission vehicle with three rows of seating.
Kia PV5 Passenger 7-seat gets £1,500 price cut
The Kia PV5 Passenger 7-seat is designed as a flexible electric vehicle for a wide range of applications. Alongside private family use, Kia sees potential for the model in shuttle services, airport transfers, ride-hailing and other shared-mobility applications.
The seven-seat version uses a 2-2-3 seating layout, providing three rows while retaining useful luggage space. With all seats in use, the PV5 offers 350 litres of luggage capacity behind the third row. Folding the second and third rows increases available cargo space to as much as 3,430 litres.
Access is also designed around passenger practicality. Dual sliding side doors and a low 399mm step-in height make it easier to enter the second and third rows, an important advantage for a vehicle intended to carry multiple passengers.
Up to 246 miles of range from a 71.2kWh battery
In the UK, the PV5 Passenger 7-seat is offered exclusively with Kia’s 71.2kWh Long Range battery.
The electric MPV can travel up to 246 miles on a full charge under the WLTP combined cycle. When connected to a suitable rapid DC charger, charging at up to 150kW can replenish the battery from 10% to 80% in less than 30 minutes.
The combination of a relatively large battery, three-row seating and rapid charging gives the PV5 Passenger 7-seat the flexibility needed for both family journeys and higher-mileage commercial applications.
Three-row practicality is a key PV5 advantage
The PV5 Passenger 7-seat is built on Kia’s dedicated E-GMP.S (Electric-Global Modular Platform for Service) architecture, which was developed specifically for Kia’s purpose-built vehicle range.
The platform allows Kia to maximize interior space without requiring an excessively large exterior footprint. The PV5 provides up to 1,041mm of front-row legroom, 977mm in the second row and 970mm in the third row.
There is also more than one metre of headroom in each row, helping the PV5 provide a more spacious environment for passengers across all three seating areas.
The result is an electric MPV focused less on conventional passenger-car styling and more on interior flexibility, accessibility and everyday usability.
Kia expands its UK Electric Car Grant lineup
The PV5 Passenger 7-seat joins several other Kia EVs eligible for the Government Electric Car Grant.
Kia currently offers the EV2, EV3, EV4 and PV5 Passenger with ECG eligibility, with individual versions qualifying for either the maximum £3,750 Band 1 grant or the £1,500 Band 2 grant.
According to Kia, the brand is currently one of only 11 manufacturers offering fully electric cars eligible for the maximum ECG, reflecting the environmental and manufacturing requirements associated with the scheme.
The addition of the seven-seat PV5 gives buyers another option at a time when demand for practical electric family vehicles and commercial passenger transport continues to grow.
Kia PV5 Passenger 7-seat price and availability
The Kia PV5 Passenger 7-seat is available in Essential, Plus and Elite specifications, with the £1,500 Electric Car Grant applying across the range.
The entry-level Essential model starts at £35,495 on the road after the grant, making it one of the more affordable ways to get a new seven-seat fully electric vehicle in the UK.
Unlike Kia’s conventional retail passenger cars, the PV5 range is available to order exclusively through Kia PBV Centres across the UK. Both Passenger and Cargo versions are offered to business and retail customers.
For buyers needing three rows of seating, substantial interior flexibility and zero-emission driving, the PV5 Passenger 7-seat is shaping up as an increasingly compelling alternative to larger electric SUVs and conventional MPVs.
