Geely has officially opened orders for its new E2 electric hatchback in Europe, giving buyers another affordable EV option as Chinese automakers continue to expand across the continent.
The Geely E2 is now available to order in Belgium with an introductory price of €19,490, making it cheaper than the BYD Dolphin Surf and significantly undercutting the Renault 5. First deliveries are scheduled to begin in September.
The European E2 is the export version of the Geely Xingyuan, one of the best-selling electric cars in China. Geely sold 194,159 Xingyuan models during the first half of 2026, making it the company’s top-selling model during the period.
Geely E2 Starts at €19,490 in Belgium
Geely initially announced in July that the Xingyuan would enter Europe under the E2 name, but the company did not reveal pricing at the time.
That changed with the Belgian launch. According to Geely Europe sales and network director Eris Yahsi, the E2 has a regular starting price of €21,490 in Belgium. However, an introductory €2,000 discount currently reduces the price to €19,490.
Geely has not specified how long the promotional pricing will remain available.
The E2 will be offered in three versions: Pro, Max and Ultra. This gives the small electric hatchback a range of configurations aimed at buyers looking for an affordable city EV without moving into a larger and more expensive electric crossover.
At €19,490, the E2 also becomes one of the more aggressively priced EVs in its segment.
For comparison, the BYD Dolphin Surf starts at €20,475 in Belgium, while the Renault 5 starts at €24,900. That puts the Geely E2 €985 below the BYD and €5,410 below the Renault 5 at their respective starting prices.
Geely E2 Offers Up to 345 km of WLTP Range
The Geely E2 measures 4,135 mm long, 1,805 mm wide and 1,580 mm tall, with a 2,650-mm wheelbase. Depending on configuration, the electric hatchback weighs between 1,290 and 1,365 kg.
Despite its compact dimensions, Geely has focused on making the E2 practical for everyday use. The car provides a 375-liter trunk along with a 70-liter front trunk.
Standard equipment includes heated seats, a large 14.6-inch infotainment display, seven airbags and multi-link rear suspension. The E2 rides on 16-inch wheels.
Battery options vary depending on trim.
The entry-level E2 Pro uses a 35-kWh battery pack and offers up to 252 km of WLTP range. The Max and Ultra versions receive a larger 47-kWh battery, increasing the claimed range to 345 km WLTP.
Geely has not yet revealed the official European power output for the E2. In other international markets, the model is equipped with a rear-mounted electric motor producing 85 kW (114 hp).
China’s Geely Xingyuan Becomes Europe’s E2
The European E2 is not an entirely new model. It is the same basic vehicle sold in China as the Geely Xingyuan and marketed as the Geely EX2 in some international markets.
The Xingyuan has quickly become an important model for Geely in China. With 194,159 deliveries during the first half of 2026, it ranked first among Geely’s models during that period.
Geely has already introduced the vehicle in several overseas markets, including Australia, Brazil, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Thailand.
Its arrival in Europe marks another step in Geely’s strategy to expand its presence in the region with smaller and more affordable electric vehicles.
Can the Geely E2 Challenge BYD and Renault?
The European EV market is becoming increasingly competitive at the lower end, and the Geely E2 enters with one major advantage: price.
At €19,490, its introductory price places it below the BYD Dolphin Surf and considerably below the Renault 5. The 345-km WLTP range available with the larger battery also gives the E2 a potentially attractive combination of affordability and usability.
The biggest question will be how Geely positions the E2 across other European markets and whether the €19,490 price is a temporary launch promotion or becomes the model’s long-term entry price.
With deliveries in Belgium expected to begin in September, the Geely E2 is set to become another Chinese-built EV competing directly for European buyers looking for an affordable electric hatchback.
If Geely can maintain its aggressive pricing as the E2 expands into additional European countries, the small electric hatchback could become one of the more interesting new budget EVs to watch in 2026.
