The all-new JAECOO 8 SHS-P has demonstrated its long-distance credentials by completing a journey of more than 700 miles across Europe on a single tank of fuel and a full battery charge. The flagship plug-in hybrid SUV took part in the “Road to Bilbao” campaign, organized alongside the European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR) Finals, highlighting the capabilities of JAECOO’s advanced Super Hybrid System (SHS).
As Official Automotive Partner of EPCR, OMODA&JAECOO used the event to showcase the efficiency, performance, and touring capability of its latest electrified SUV. Two JAECOO 8 SHS-P models traveled from Paris, France, to Bilbao, Spain, covering more than 700 miles while demonstrating the vehicle’s ability to combine electric driving with extended hybrid range.
Long-Range Performance Meets Everyday Practicality
Recently launched in the UK, the JAECOO 8 SHS-P pairs a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with a three-mode Dedicated Hybrid Transmission and a 34.46 kWh battery pack. The electrified powertrain produces a combined 428 PS and 580 Nm of torque, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.8 seconds.
Beyond its performance credentials, the JAECOO 8 SHS-P is designed for long-distance travel. The SUV offers up to 83 miles of pure electric driving and a combined WLTP driving range exceeding 700 miles, making it a compelling option for drivers seeking reduced charging stops and greater flexibility on extended journeys.
A Rugby-Inspired Route Across Europe
The route was carefully planned to celebrate the heritage and geography of European rugby. Starting in Paris, the convoy traveled through several iconic locations, including Chartres, Le Mans, La Rochelle, Bordeaux, Saint-Émilion, Biarritz, and San Sebastián before arriving in Bilbao for the EPCR Finals.
Adding to the event’s visibility, rugby personalities Ben Youngs and Dan Cole joined the campaign in a distinctive pink-liveried JAECOO 7 SHS-P. Fans followed the adventure through daily social media updates, behind-the-scenes content, interviews, and a special podcast episode recorded during the trip.
Showcasing SHS Technology in Bilbao
Upon arrival at the Champions Rugby Village in Bilbao, both JAECOO 8 SHS-P vehicles were displayed in custom “Road to Bilbao” liveries. Visitors also had the opportunity to participate in the JAECOO SHS Final Metre Challenge, an interactive experience designed to highlight endurance, efficiency, and performance.

The campaign coincided with the Investec Champions Cup Final, where Union Bordeaux Bègles secured victory over Leinster Rugby at Bilbao’s San Mamés Stadium. The partnership marks the second consecutive year of collaboration between OMODA&JAECOO UK and EPCR.

Pricing starts at £45,500 OTR for the 5+2-seat Luxury model, while the higher-spec Executive variant begins at £47,500 OTR.
