Toyota Hilux Electric Pickup: UK Pricing, Specs and Release Date

The all-new ninth-generation Toyota Hilux marks a significant step forward for one of the world’s most recognizable pickup trucks. Building on decades of global success, the latest Hilux introduces bold styling, enhanced capability, and a fully digital cabin experience—while embracing electrification for the first time.

Toyota’s latest update aligns with its broader strategy to offer multiple powertrain options, giving buyers flexibility to reduce emissions without compromising usability or performance.

Electrification arrives: EV and Diesel 48V options

For the first time, the Hilux lineup includes a fully electric variant, sitting alongside a new Diesel 48V electrified powertrain. This dual approach reflects Toyota’s “multi-path” strategy, targeting both traditional pickup buyers and those ready to transition to zero-emission driving.

The all-electric Hilux is designed to deliver strong off-road capability while introducing modern systems such as Multi-Terrain Select and Downhill Assist Control. Meanwhile, the Diesel 48V model enhances efficiency and drivability, with the added benefit of electric power steering—another first for the Hilux.

Single body style, improved practicality

The new Hilux range simplifies its offering by moving to a single Double Cab configuration. A five-seat layout comes as standard, with a two-seat commercial conversion expected later in 2026.

This streamlined approach allows Toyota to focus on maximizing comfort, cabin quality, and usability, while still catering to both work and lifestyle needs.

Trim levels and key features

Diesel 48V grades

The Diesel 48V Hilux is available in four trims, each adding more technology and comfort.

– Active introduces enhanced Toyota Safety Sense systems, a digital driver display, rear deck step, and electric power steering.
– Icon upgrades the cabin with 17-inch alloy wheels, heated seats, a 12.3-inch infotainment system, smartphone integration, and wireless charging.
– Invincible adds part-leather upholstery, power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a larger digital instrument cluster.
– Invincible X tops the range with 18-inch alloys, unique styling elements, a JBL premium audio system, heated rear seats, and a Multi-Terrain Monitor for advanced off-road visibility.

All-electric grades

The electric Hilux is offered in two trims:

– Icon includes alloy wheels, side steps, and off-road assistance systems.
– Invincible adds leather upholstery, LED headlights, and additional premium features.

Fully digital interior and enhanced safety

Inside, the new Hilux adopts a modern, tech-focused layout. A 12.3-inch Toyota Smart Connect system anchors the dashboard, offering seamless integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while a fully digital instrument cluster enhances driver visibility.

Safety is also improved across the range, with expanded Toyota Safety Sense features delivering more advanced driver assistance and protection both on and off the road.

UK pricing and availability

Toyota has confirmed UK pricing ahead of launch, with deliveries starting mid-2026.

Diesel 48V pricing (OTR, incl. VAT)

– Active: £42,845
– Icon: £48,545
– Invincible: £51,145
– Invincible X: £54,095

All-electric pricing (OTR, incl. VAT)

– Icon: £57,845
– Invincible: £60,695

Prices exclude the UK’s £5,000 plug-in van grant, which applies to the electric models.

Customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in June for the electric Hilux, followed by the Diesel 48V models in July.

A more versatile, future-ready pickup

With the introduction of an all-electric variant and electrified diesel technology, the 2026 Toyota Hilux evolves into a more versatile and future-ready pickup. Enhanced digital features, improved safety systems, and refined capability ensure it remains competitive in a rapidly changing market.

As more details on specifications and performance emerge, the new Hilux is set to play a key role in Toyota’s electrified commercial vehicle strategy.
