BYD has confirmed UK pricing and full specifications for the new ATTO 2 DM-i, with the plug-in hybrid SUV starting at £26,995.
The model introduces the brand’s Dual Mode Super Hybrid (DM-i) technology into the highly competitive supermini SUV segment, offering buyers a more accessible alternative to fully electric vehicles.
Positioned below models like the BYD SEAL U and BYD SEALION 5, the ATTO 2 DM-i expands BYD’s UK lineup while complementing the fully electric BYD ATTO 2. The result is greater flexibility for customers choosing between EV and hybrid powertrains.
SUV styling meets high-value specification
The ATTO 2 DM-i adopts a rugged SUV design, paired with a generous standard equipment list across both trims.
The entry-level Active model includes LED lighting, 16-inch alloy wheels, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, and a rear-view camera. Practical touches such as four USB ports, heated mirrors, and rain-sensing wipers reinforce its everyday usability.
Upgrading to the Boost trim adds a more premium feel. Exterior enhancements include 17-inch alloys, aluminium roof rails, privacy glass, and a panoramic sunroof. Inside, vegan leather upholstery, heated front seats and steering wheel, and additional lighting elevate comfort.
Technology also takes a step forward, with features like a 360-degree camera, faster onboard charging, wireless phone charging, and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality.
Google-powered infotainment enhances connectivity
A 12.8-inch touchscreen comes as standard, now enhanced with built-in Google Automotive Services. This integration brings Google Maps, Google Assistant, and access to apps via the Play Store directly into the vehicle.
Wireless smartphone integration remains standard, with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto supported. Multiple USB ports and high-speed charging options ensure devices stay powered on the move.
Efficient DM-i hybrid powertrain with impressive range
The ATTO 2 DM-i is powered by BYD’s 1.5-litre Xiaoyun petrol engine, primarily acting as a generator to support the electric motor. This setup prioritises efficiency while maintaining strong performance.
Two configurations are available:
– Active: 165PS, 0–62mph in 9.1 seconds
– Boost: 212PS, 0–62mph in 7.5 seconds
Electric-only driving capability varies significantly between trims. The Active offers up to 31 miles of EV range from its 7.8kWh battery, while the Boost’s larger 18kWh battery delivers up to 93 miles.
Combined driving range reaches up to 621 miles in the Boost model—an impressive figure for this class—while fuel economy is rated as high as 470.8mpg under combined testing.
Practical dimensions and everyday usability
Measuring 4,330mm in length, the ATTO 2 DM-i sits at the larger end of the supermini SUV category. This translates into strong interior space for both front and rear passengers.
Boot capacity stands at 425 litres, making it more practical than many larger hatchbacks. Combined with its hybrid efficiency and competitive pricing, the ATTO 2 DM-i positions itself as a highly versatile family option.
A key step in BYD’s UK expansion
The ATTO 2 DM-i signals BYD’s continued push into the UK mainstream, bringing advanced hybrid technology to a more affordable price point. With strong electric-only capability, long total range, and a high level of standard equipment, it offers a compelling alternative to both traditional hybrids and fully electric SUVs.
As demand grows for flexible electrified options, models like the ATTO 2 DM-i are likely to play a crucial role in bridging the gap between petrol and fully electric mobility.
