Volvo Cars has officially introduced the all-new Volvo EX60 in North America, marking the model’s first public appearance in the U.S. The debut, held in New York City, also signals the opening of order books for American customers, placing Volvo’s latest electric SUV firmly in one of the most competitive segments of the market.
Positioned as a core growth model for the brand, the EX60 blends long range, rapid charging, and advanced software with a more accessible starting price of $58,400 (MSRP), excluding destination fees.
Targeting the Heart of the EV Market
The EX60 enters the midsize electric SUV category—currently the largest and fastest-growing EV segment in the U.S. Volvo is aiming directly at mainstream adoption barriers, including range anxiety, charging convenience, and upfront cost.
With multiple powertrain options available at launch, the EX60 lineup offers flexibility for a wide range of buyers:
– EX60 P6: up to 307 miles
– EX60 P10 AWD: up to 322 miles
– EX60 P12 AWD (coming later): up to 400 miles
The headline figure of 400 miles places the EX60 among the longest-range electric SUVs expected in its class, enabling long-distance travel with minimal charging stops.
800V Architecture and Tesla Supercharger Access
Built on Volvo’s next-generation SPA3 platform, the EX60 introduces an 800V electrical system designed for ultra-fast charging and improved efficiency.
Depending on the variant, drivers can add up to 173 miles of range in just 10 minutes, with peak charging speeds reaching 370 kW. A 10–80% charge can be completed in as little as 16 minutes on select models.
Crucially, the EX60 becomes the first Volvo equipped with a native North American Charging Standard (NACS) port. This enables direct, adapter-free access to more than 29,000 Tesla Supercharger stations across the United States, significantly improving charging convenience and network reliability.
A Software-Defined Volvo With AI Integration
The EX60 marks a major step forward in Volvo’s transition toward software-defined vehicles. At the core of this shift is a new computing architecture known as HuginCore, which integrates sensors, onboard computing, and vehicle software into a unified system.
This platform enables continuous over-the-air updates while supporting advanced driver assistance and safety features.
The model will also debut with Google Gemini, a next-generation AI assistant deeply integrated into the vehicle. Drivers can interact using natural conversation to manage navigation, media, and vehicle settings—reducing reliance on touchscreen inputs and improving focus on the road.
Safety Remains Central
Safety continues to be a defining pillar for Volvo, and the EX60 builds on that legacy with new innovations. The SUV features a reinforced safety cage using boron steel, combined with advanced restraint systems.
A notable debut is the brand’s multi-adaptive safety belt system, which adjusts protection dynamically based on real-time conditions and occupant characteristics. Together with a comprehensive suite of sensors, the EX60 is designed to exceed many global safety standards.
Trim Levels and Pricing
The EX60 launches in the U.S. with two initial powertrains—P6 and P10 AWD—available in Plus and Ultra trims. The more powerful P12 AWD variant will follow later.
Starting prices (MSRP):
– EX60 P6 Plus: $58,400
– EX60 P6 Ultra: $65,000
– EX60 P10 AWD Plus: $60,750
– EX60 P10 AWD Ultra: $67,350
MSRP does not include the $1,395 destination fee.
The Plus trim comes well-equipped, featuring a 15-inch OLED touchscreen with Google built-in, Pilot Assist, a 21-speaker Bose sound system, and a full suite of safety technologies.
Stepping up to Ultra adds premium upgrades such as ventilated Nappa leather seats, a 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system, an electrochromic panoramic roof, and additional rear-seat comfort features.
A Key Model for Volvo’s EV Expansion
With competitive pricing, long-range capability, and cutting-edge charging tech, the EX60 is positioned to play a critical role in Volvo’s electrification strategy in the U.S.
By combining Scandinavian design, advanced safety systems, and next-gen software, the EX60 aims to appeal to buyers ready to transition to electric without compromise—especially in a segment where expectations are higher than ever.
