2018 Nissan LEAF receives ‘Lowest Cost to Own Award’ from Kelley Blue Book

The all-new 2018 Nissan LEAF, the best-selling electric vehicle in the world, has taken home Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com 5-Year Cost to Own Award in the electric vehicle category at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show this week.

The 5-Year Cost to Own Awards honor new vehicles and brands with the lowest projected ownership costs, based on Kelley Blue Book’s 5-Year Cost to Own data for new cars for the initial five-year ownership period. It takes into consideration depreciation, expected fuel costs, finance and insurance fees, maintenance and repair costs, and state fees for all new models over the initial five-year ownership period.

The all-new Nissan LEAF, which went on sale last month, has been completely re-invented for its second generation, combining greater range with a dynamic new design and the latest Nissan technology. The new LEAF embodies Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility, featuring technologies such as ProPILOT Assist, e-Pedal, Automatic Emergency Braking and more.

“Nissan Intelligent Mobility is about applying the latest technology to set a new benchmark for exciting and safe driving and the all-new Nissan LEAF delivers on that in every way,” said Brian Maragno, director, Nissan EV marketing and sales strategy. “In addition to the exhilarating drive, EVs are inherently less expensive to operate than gas-powered cars and the 2018 Nissan LEAF provides more range, content and technology at a lower MSRP than the previous generation, offering customers more value at a lower price.”

The 2018 LEAF S starts at just $29,990 and adds attractive new styling inside and out, a 40% increase in driving range, a 37% increase in horsepower, e-Pedal, Automatic Emergency Braking with a price that’s $690 lower than the previous model.

The 2018 LEAF SV includes the S trim’s long list of standard features – then adds Intelligent Cruise Control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The top trim level, the 2018 LEAF SL, comes standard with additional features like Bose Premium audio system, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Intelligent Around View Monitor and a portable L1/L2 charging cord.
