Xiaomi has officially entered the extended-range SUV segment with the debut of its all-new SkyNomad Series, introducing the SkyNomad N70 Max and SkyNomad N90 Max. Built on the company’s new Kunlun Platform, the two intelligent SUVs combine long electric driving range, spacious family-focused interiors, advanced safety technologies, and Xiaomi’s latest smart vehicle innovations.
The new lineup also sets a new benchmark for extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs), with the SkyNomad N70 Max delivering a claimed 505 km (314 miles) of pure-electric driving range under the CLTC test cycle—a figure Xiaomi says is the highest among production EREVs.
Xiaomi Targets Family SUV Buyers
The SkyNomad Series has been designed around three key priorities: interior space, flexibility, and efficiency. Unlike many conventional SUVs that prioritize exterior styling before cabin packaging, Xiaomi says the Kunlun Platform was engineered from the inside out, maximizing usable interior volume first.
The lineup consists of two models:
– Xiaomi SkyNomad N70 Max – five-seat AWD extended-range SUV
– Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max – flagship seven-seat extended-range SUV
Both models feature Xiaomi’s Kunlun HyperRange powertrain, Armor Scale Battery, and Kunlun Total Safety architecture while emphasizing family-friendly practicality through configurable seating, a completely flat cabin floor, and generous cargo capacity.
Record-Breaking 505 km Electric Range
The headline specification belongs to the SkyNomad N70 Max, which uses a 76 kWh ternary lithium (NMC) battery paired with a 1.5-liter gasoline range extender supplied by Dongan.
Unlike conventional plug-in hybrids, the SkyNomad employs a serial extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) architecture, meaning the gasoline engine is not mechanically connected to the wheels. Instead, it serves as a generator that supplies electricity to the battery and electric motors.
According to Xiaomi, the N70 Max achieves:
– 505 km (314 miles) CLTC electric range
– 15.85 kWh/100 km CLTC energy consumption
– Dual-motor AWD system
– 310 kW (416 hp) combined output
– 210 kW front motor
– 100 kW rear motor
Xiaomi says its range-extender engine delivers more than 44% peak thermal efficiency and can generate approximately 4 kWh of electricity from one liter of fuel, contributing to the vehicle’s impressive efficiency.
During the launch presentation, Xiaomi compared the N70 Max with several unnamed competitors equipped with batteries ranging from 63.3 kWh to 80.3 kWh, claiming none exceeded the N70’s 505 km electric range. One of the comparison vehicles closely matched the specifications of the Leapmotor D19, which uses a larger 80.3 kWh battery but offers a slightly shorter 500 km CLTC electric range.
Larger N90 Max Offers Seven Seats and 1,705 km Total Range
The flagship SkyNomad N90 Max shares the same 76 kWh battery pack and 310 kW dual-motor AWD powertrain, but prioritizes passenger space and long-distance capability.
Key specifications include:
– 464 km CLTC electric range
– 1,705 km combined driving range
– 6.26 L/100 km WLTC fuel consumption (battery depleted)
– 0–100 km/h in 5.9 seconds
– 190 km/h top speed
Fast-charging capability is another highlight. Xiaomi says the N90 Max can recover 285 km of driving range in just 15 minutes, while charging from 20% to 80% takes only 18 minutes.
Spacious Cabin Designed Around Flexibility
The Kunlun Platform places a strong emphasis on maximizing usable cabin space. Both SkyNomad models feature a completely flat floor extending from the first row to the cargo area, eliminating the raised sections commonly found in large SUVs.
The N90 Max measures 5,285 mm long, 1,998 mm wide, 1,825 mm tall, and rides on a 3,080 mm wheelbase, while the N70 Max measures 4,960 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, 1,765 mm in height, with a 2,950 mm wheelbase.
Inside, the N90 Max offers a 2+2+3 seating configuration with exceptionally long sliding seat rails that allow both the second and third rows to move fore and aft. The flexible layout helps maximize passenger comfort or cargo capacity depending on travel needs.
Cargo space expands to as much as 1,831 liters, while the cabin incorporates 34 storage compartments, including a large front glovebox and multiple device mounting points.

– Built-in 9-liter refrigerator

Premium Design Inside and Out
The SkyNomad Series adopts a functional design philosophy where exterior styling supports interior usability.
Its upright silhouette, flat roofline and squared proportions help maximize headroom and cabin volume while maintaining a modern SUV appearance. Xiaomi also incorporated more than 140 aerodynamic improvements, allowing the larger N90 Max to achieve a 0.255 drag coefficient despite its size.
Exterior colors include: Mountain Green, Valley Blue and Volcanic Gray.
The interior is available in Cream Beige and Mocha Brown, with approximately 95% of high-touch surfaces wrapped in soft materials. Xiaomi also says the cabin uses OEKO-TEX-certified materials, meeting standards intended to reduce exposure to potentially harmful substances.
Safety and Intelligent Technology
Safety was another major focus during development.
The SkyNomad Series uses a steel-aluminum hybrid body with 90.4% high-strength steel and aluminum, including 2,200 MPa ultra-high-strength steel in key structural areas.

The vehicles also feature silicon carbide power electronics, advanced thermal management, active noise cancellation for the range extender, adaptive air suspension, and Xiaomi’s latest intelligent vehicle technologies.
Pricing and Availability
Xiaomi has opened pre-sales for both SkyNomad models in China ahead of their official market launch in September.
Pre-sale pricing starts at:
– Xiaomi SkyNomad N70 Max: 259,900 yuan (approximately US$38,400)
– Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max: 299,900 yuan (approximately US$44,600)
These prices apply to the initial top-spec Max variants. Xiaomi confirmed that more affordable Pro and entry-level versions will join the lineup when the SkyNomad Series officially launches later this year.
Customers can currently reserve either model with a refundable 1,000 yuan deposit, which also provides priority production scheduling.
