September plug-in vehicle sales in Sweden and Finland

The Swedish plug-in electric vehicle market surged 161% in September, having registered 1.591 units last month. Year-to-date, the registrations are up 84% to 9.407 units, making this one of the hottest PEV markets in Europe.

As is now usual, the Volkswagen Passat GTE was the leader in September, with 422 units (and half of all VW Passat sales), followed by the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (214 registrations) and the Tesla Model S (163 units).

In the Year-to-date ranking, Passat GTE is in #1 (2.885 units), followed from a far by the Outlander PHEV (1.094) and the Volvo V60 PHEV (907).

Final mention for the arrival of two important models, with the Kia Optima PHEV landing with 88 registrations, while the Tesla Model X had its first full sales month, with the Palo Alto company delivering 129 units of its new SUV, enough to reach the Fifth position in the September ranking.

Meanwhile, the Finnish plug-in electric vehicle market is one of the fastest growing in Europe, having registered 146 units in September, up 112% regarding the same month last year.

Last month we had a new model as Best Seller, with the newcomer Audi Q7 e-Tron leading the way with 20 units, followed closely by the Volvo XC90 PHEV (17 units) and the Volkswagen Passat GTE (16).

It’s worth mentioning the good performances of the Tesla Model X, delivering 14 units in September, while the Mercedes GLC350e also did a personal best, registering 9 units last month.

In the Year-to-date ranking, the Volvo XC90 PHEV is far ahead from the rest of the competition, with 211 units, with the Second Placed, the Passat GTE, collecting just 101 units and the Third, the BMW X5 40e, 77 units.
