MG has officially launched the new MG 07 sedan in China, combining a fastback design with electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains, advanced driver-assistance technology and a surprisingly low starting price.
The new MG 07 made its official debut at the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show, where SAIC Motor’s MG brand announced a limited-time starting price of just 105,900 yuan, equivalent to around €13,500.
The model is available in seven variants. Official list prices range from 108,900 yuan (€13,900) to 159,900 yuan (€20,400), while limited-time launch pricing cuts the range to between 105,900 yuan (€13,500) and 156,900 yuan (€20,000). Buyers who trade in an existing vehicle can also receive an additional 3,000-yuan incentive.
That makes the MG 07 considerably cheaper than its pre-sale pricing. When pre-orders opened on July 29, MG announced prices ranging from 125,900 yuan to 165,900 yuan.
MG 07 Offers Up to 845 Km of Range
The MG 07 is available with several powertrain and battery configurations, including fully electric versions and a plug-in hybrid.
The headline model is the MG 07 EV 845, which uses an 800-volt electrical architecture and a 91-kWh CATL battery. It delivers a claimed CLTC range of up to 845 km (525 miles) and supports 5C fast charging.
The 650 and 610 versions use smaller 67-kWh battery packs and a 400-volt electrical system. These batteries are supplied by Qingtao Energy, a company backed by SAIC.
MG says deliveries of the battery-electric 650 versions will begin in late August, while the long-range 845-km versions are scheduled to reach customers in October.
Plug-In Hybrid MG 07 Offers 1,745 Km Combined Range
The MG 07 is not limited to battery-electric power. A plug-in hybrid version combines a 1.5-liter hybrid-specific gasoline engine with an electric drive motor producing up to 152 kW.
A CATL lithium iron phosphate battery provides a claimed 245 km (152 miles) of CLTC electric-only range. With a full battery and fuel tank, MG quotes a combined CLTC range of 1,745 km (1,084 miles).
The PHEV is also rated at just 2.91 liters per 100 km when the battery is depleted, according to the Chinese CLTC testing standard.
This combination gives the MG 07 a broader appeal in a market where buyers are increasingly looking for either long-range EVs or plug-in hybrids that can cover long distances without frequent charging.
Fastback Design With a Practical Liftback
Despite its sedan proportions, the MG 07 adopts a fastback body style and a liftback tailgate, giving it a more practical cargo opening than a conventional sedan.
The car measures 4,886 mm (192.4 inches) long, 1,900 mm (74.8 inches) wide and 1,485 mm (58.5 inches) tall, with a 2,825-mm (111.2-inch) wheelbase.
The exterior features four frameless doors and a powered rear spoiler with five adjustable positions. MG has also managed to provide useful storage space, including a 168-liter front trunk and a 697-liter rear cargo area.
MG 07 Brings LiDAR and Advanced Driver Assistance
Technology is another major focus of the new MG 07. It is the first MG model to feature LiDAR and the first to use Momenta’s R7 world-model-based assisted-driving system.
The system is supported by an Xheart X7 chip designed for large AI models, giving the MG 07 technology that is typically associated with considerably more expensive vehicles.
Inside, the sedan features a Qualcomm 8295P processor and a 15.6-inch 2.5K central touchscreen. A 21-speaker, 7.1.4-channel audio system is also available, while the front passenger gets a zero-gravity seat on higher-end versions.
MG’s current electric lineup in China is largely centered around the MG4 hatchback family and the MG Cyberster electric sports car. The MG 07 expands the brand’s presence into the highly competitive midsize sedan market while bringing a combination of long electric range, fast charging, advanced driver assistance and aggressive pricing.
With a limited-time price starting at approximately €13,500, the MG 07 could become one of the more interesting affordable electrified sedans to emerge from China’s rapidly expanding EV market.
