All major automakers are posting March sales numbers for plug-in electric vehicles.

Nissan LEAF Sales of the all-electric Nissan LEAF set a March record, increasing 12.1 percent to 2,507. March’s number was the single highest March sales total for the LEAF and the second-best month of all-time. Sales in December 2013 were 2,529–or just 22 cars higher. In terms of year-to-date results in 2014, sales of the Nissan LEAF now stand at 5,184, an improvement of 46.5% compared with 2013 when 3,539 were sold. | |
Chevrolet Volt The Chevrolet Volt sold 1,478 units last month, which is exactly the same number of Volts they sold in March of 2013. Previously in February, Volt sold 1,210 units -down 25.6% compared to February of 2013 when GM delivered 1,626 Volts. In terms of year-to-date results in 2014, sales of the Chevrolet Volt now stand at 3,606 units. That’s is 15 percent less than last year’s total through March of 4,244. | |
Toyota Prius Plug-in Prius Plug-in Hybrid achieved 1,452 sales last month, which is up 92% compared to March of 2013. Previously in February, Toyota Prius Plug-in sold 1,041 units. In terms of year-to-date results in 2014, sales of the Prius Plug-in Hybrid now stand at 3,297, an improvement of 46.5% compared with 2013. | |
Ford C-Max Energi Ford C-MAX Energi sold 610 units, which is up 10.5% over February’s number and 23.5% up compared to March of 2013. Overall for the year, 1,633 Ford C-MAX Energi plug-ins have been sold, a 40.1% improvement of 2013 when 1,166 were moved. | |
Ford Fusion Energi The Ford Fusion Energi achieved 899 sales last month. Previously in February, Ford Fusion Energi sold 779 units. Overall Ford has now sold 2,211 Fusion Energi plug-ins, which is off 434.1% more than the first 3 months of last year when they sold 414. | |
Cadillac ELR March marked GM’s second third month of sales for the 2014 Cadillac ELR range-extended luxury coupe. GM sold 81 Cadillac ELRs, which brings the total amount sold in the first 3 months to 180 units. The 2014 Cadillac ELR has a starting price of $75,995, including a $995 destination charge but excluding tax, title, license and dealer fees. | |
Porsche Panamera S-E Hybrid Porsche sold 56 Panamera S E-Hybrids last month. Previously in February, Panamera S E-Hybrid sold 57 units, while in January it sold 141 units. In terms of year-to-date results in 2014, sales of the Panamera S E-Hybrid now stand at 254 units. | |
Tesla Model S – No Sales Data to Report Tesla Motors does not report monthly sales like every other automaker. Tesla Motors said that it delivered 6,892 Model S electric sedans in the fourth quarter of 2013. Tesla delivered 22,477 Model S electric sedans in 2013. Tesla sees Model S deliveries increasing to 7,400 in the first quarter, and hitting 35,000 total for 2014. | |
Ford Focus Electric Deliveries of the Ford Focus Electric were 177 in March. In February, deliveries of the Focus Electric were 129, while in January Ford sold were exactly 100 Focus EVs. Overall Ford has now sold 406 Focus Electric EVs. | |
Mitsubishi i Mitsubishi sold 24 i-MiEV electric cars in March. Previously in February, Mitsubishi sold just three i-MiEV electric cars and in January, Mitsubishi sold just one i-MiEV electric car. 2014 Mitsubishi i-MiEV will start at $22,995 including CHAdeMO DC quick charge port, representing a $6,130 reduction from the starting price of the 2012 model that preceded it. | |
Honda Fit EV Honda sold 37 Fit EVs in March. Previously in February, Honda FIT EV sold 34 units, while in January 30 Fit EVs were sold. Honda Fit EV production will be halted this fall when the automaker produces its 1,100th Fit EV. With the Fit EV being halted this fall, Honda will be left without a all-electric vehicle to compete in the growing segment. | |
Toyota RAV4 EV Toyota RAV4 EV sold 73 units last month. Toyota RAV4 EV sold 101 units in February. In terms of year-to-date results in 2014, sales of the Toyota RAV4 EV now stand at 237 units. | |
Honda Accord Plug-in The 2014 Honda Accord Plug-In Hybrid logged 24 units last month. Previously in February and January, Accord Plug-in Hybrid sold 24 and 27 units respectively. | |
Smart Fortwo Electric Drive Last month, smart fortwo ED sold 186 units, after selling 122 units in February and 97 units in January. In terms of year-to-date results in 2014, sales of the smart fortwo ED now stand at 405 units. | |
Fiat 500e – No Sales Data to Report Like Tesla, FIAT Brand North America does not report monthly sales. The 2013 Fiat 500e is priced at $32,500, which includes a $700 destination charge. However, eligible California residents may be able to purchase the 2013 Fiat 500e for as low as $20,500, after federal credits. | |
Chevrolet Spark EV GM sold 108 Chevrolet Spark EVs last month. Previously in February, Spark EV sold 71 units. In terms of year-to-date results in 2014, sales of the Chevrolet Spark EV now stand at 272. | |
