Lynk & Co is ready to step outside its comfort zone. Known primarily for SUVs and sedans, the Geely-owned brand has previewed an all-new two-door GT concept, set to make its global debut at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show on April 24—and it could mark a major turning point for the company.
A New Direction: From Practical to Performance
A single teaser image reveals a dramatically different design language. The upcoming GT concept embraces classic grand tourer proportions, featuring a long dash-to-axle ratio, a low-slung stance, and muscular rear haunches. The silhouette hints at a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout, drawing comparisons to icons like the Jaguar F-Type.
At the rear, a sloping roofline flows into full-width LED taillights, giving the car a modern, high-tech signature. The rising beltline also echoes elements seen in Lynk & Co’s latest sedan designs, tying the concept into the brand’s current portfolio while pushing it into more emotional territory.
Electric or Hybrid Power? Both Are Possible
While technical details remain under wraps, the GT concept is expected to ride on an existing Geely platform. That opens the door to multiple electrified powertrains, including a fully electric setup or a plug-in hybrid system.
Given Geely’s expanding EV ecosystem, a battery-electric GT seems like a strong possibility—especially as Lynk & Co looks to strengthen its presence in the performance EV segment.
Aiming at Serious Rivals
If this concept reaches production, Lynk & Co won’t be playing it safe. The GT could go head-to-head with established performance machines like the Porsche 911 and Mercedes-AMG GT, while also targeting newer electric rivals such as the MG Cyberster.
Compared to the more radical 2022 “Next Day” concept—with its exaggerated proportions and futuristic doors—this new GT appears closer to production reality. That suggests Lynk & Co may be seriously considering entering the premium sports car market.
Built on Real Racing DNA
This move isn’t coming out of nowhere. Lynk & Co has built a strong motorsport reputation in recent years, particularly in the TCR (Touring Car Racing) championship, where it has secured nine titles in seven years.
The brand has also invested in building a performance culture. The Lynk & Co Performance Car Club (LPCC), launched in 2020, connects track enthusiasts and promotes motorsport development in China. More recently, the company introduced the 03+ TCR race car—China’s first production-based racer developed for global TCR competition.
All of that experience could feed directly into the DNA of this new GT concept.
Major Changes in Europe
At the same time, Lynk & Co is undergoing a significant transformation in Europe. A new agreement between Volvo Cars and Geely Auto will see Volvo take over the brand’s distribution, retail, and service operations across the region.
This shift marks a move away from Lynk & Co’s subscription-focused model toward a more traditional sales approach, leveraging Volvo’s established dealer and service network. The change could play a key role in supporting future models—especially more premium offerings like the GT.
What to Expect on April 24
Lynk & Co will officially unveil the GT concept at Booth A103, Hall A1 of the Capital International Exhibition & Convention Centre in Beijing. Whether it’s fully electric or hybrid, one thing is clear: the brand is preparing to redefine its image.
If the production version follows, Lynk & Co could soon be competing in a segment few expected it to enter—bringing a fresh, electrified challenger to the world of high-performance grand tourers.
