smart Concept #2 Debuts as Brand Expands EV Lineup to Five Models

smart has entered a new phase in its evolution, unveiling two major electric vehicle debuts at its Global Brand Event in Beijing. Headlined by the global reveal of the Concept #2 and the world premiere of the #6 EHD, the brand is accelerating its push into new segments while expanding its global footprint.

Under the theme “Change of Perspectives,” smart outlined its strategy to grow from three to five models in its portfolio this year. The lineup—featuring the #1, #3, and #5—continues to blend premium engineering with design expertise from the Mercedes-Benz Global Design Team, reinforcing the brand’s focus on urban mobility with a premium edge.

Concept #2 Reinvents the Electric City Car

The Concept #2 offers the first physical look at the upcoming all-electric smart #2, a reimagined two-seater city car designed for modern urban lifestyles. Built on smart’s new Electric Compact Architecture (ECA), the model introduces a fresh interpretation of compact EV design.

Guided by the philosophy “Love, Pure, Unexpected,” the Concept #2 adopts a “Function becomes Fashion” approach. Its minimalist silhouette is enhanced by a matte white and gold two-tone finish, combining practicality with expressive styling. Hidden design elements and translucent surfaces add a layer of visual intrigue, positioning the vehicle as more than just a city commuter.

Despite its compact 2,792mm length, the Concept #2 maximizes interior space with a wheels-at-the-corners layout. This configuration not only improves cabin room but also delivers exceptional maneuverability, highlighted by a tight 6.95-meter turning circle—ideal for dense urban environments.

Performance expectations are equally competitive. smart targets an electric range of nearly 300 km, along with DC fast-charging capability from 10% to 80% in under 20 minutes. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality is also included, enabling users to power external devices on the go.

The production version of the smart #2 is scheduled to debut at the Paris Motor Show in October 2026, marking a key milestone for the brand’s smallest EV offering.

smart #6 EHD Expands Into Premium Sedan Segment

In addition to the Concept #2, smart introduced the #6 EHD, its first entry into the premium fastback sedan category. Designed by Mercedes-Benz in Europe and developed with a focus on the Chinese market, the model combines executive-level interior space with a sleek, aerodynamic profile.

The #6 EHD features a distinctive shark-inspired design, delivering a dynamic presence both at rest and in motion. Positioned as a segment trendsetter, the model highlights smart’s ambition to compete beyond compact urban vehicles and tap into higher-end EV segments.

Initially launching exclusively in China, the #6 EHD reflects the importance of the world’s largest EV market in smart’s growth strategy.

Global Expansion and Customer Experience

smart’s transformation is not limited to its product lineup. The brand now operates in 40 global markets, supported by a growing network of partners and expanding technological capabilities.

To complement this expansion, smart will roll out its “smart care” service brand across Europe starting mid-2026. The initiative aims to provide a seamless ownership experience through reliable and convenient customer support.

A Broader Vision for Electric Mobility

With the introduction of the Concept #2 and #6 EHD, smart is signaling a clear shift toward a more diversified and premium EV portfolio. By combining compact urban mobility solutions with larger, more sophisticated models, the brand is positioning itself to compete across multiple segments.

As the lineup grows and new technologies like the ECA platform come into play, smart’s strategy reflects a broader industry trend: delivering electric vehicles that balance efficiency, design, and everyday usability for a global audience.
