
Renault is set to unveil the production-ready Trafic Van E-Tech Electric at the UK’s leading commercial vehicle event, marking a major step forward for electric vans aimed at business users.
The new model will debut at the Commercial Vehicle Show, ahead of order books opening later in 2026. After appearing as a concept at last year’s event, the next-generation Trafic returns in fully production form—bringing significant upgrades in performance, charging, and digital capability.
Built for Efficiency: New Platform and 800V Charging
At the core of the Trafic E-Tech Electric is a dedicated skateboard platform paired with advanced 800V architecture. This setup enables ultra-fast charging, allowing the battery to go from 15% to 80% in approximately 20 minutes. In that time, drivers can recover up to 260 km of driving range—minimizing downtime for fleet operators.
Two battery options will be available:
– Long-range NMC battery: up to 450 km (WLTP)
– Urban-range LFP battery: up to 350 km (WLTP), free from rare metals like cobalt and nickel
Renault’s First Software-Defined Vehicle
The Trafic E-Tech Electric also marks a milestone as Renault’s first Software Defined Vehicle (SDV). This means the van can continuously improve through over-the-air updates—adding features, enhancing performance, and optimizing reliability without hardware changes.
For businesses, this translates into smarter maintenance, real-time insights, and reduced operational complexity over the vehicle’s lifespan.
Practical Design Meets Urban Versatility
Designed with real-world usability in mind, the electric van offers:
– Up to 5.8 m³ of load volume
– Payload capacity of up to 1.25 tonnes
– Towing capability of 2 tonnes
Despite its practicality, the Trafic maintains a compact footprint, with a height under 1.90 meters—ideal for underground parking—and a tight 10.3-meter turning circle for city driving.
Smart Tech and Connected Features
Inside, the van is equipped with Renault’s OpenR multimedia system, featuring a 12-inch central display. Navigation is tailored specifically for commercial use, factoring in vehicle size, load, and optimal charging routes.
Integration with Google services adds further convenience, while Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) capabilities allow the van to power tools or even feed energy back into the grid.
Flexible Configurations and Production
In addition to the standard van version, the Trafic E-Tech Electric will be offered in multiple configurations, including chassis cab, platform cab, tipper, and flatbed variants.
Production will take place at Renault’s Sandouville plant in France, with many customer-requested conversions handled on-site. Custom builds will also be supported through Renault’s extensive network of Pro+ partner bodybuilders.
A Strategic Launch for Fleet Growth
The UK debut comes at a time of strong momentum for Renault in the fleet sector, with the brand achieving its best performance in over a decade. As electrification accelerates, the Trafic E-Tech Electric positions itself as a compelling solution for businesses transitioning to zero-emission transport.
