BYD DOLPHIN G DM-i Arrives In Europe With 621-Mile Range

BYD has officially introduced the DOLPHIN G DM-i, a new compact model designed specifically for international markets, including Europe. Positioned in the highly competitive B-segment, the newcomer combines electric driving capability with hybrid flexibility, targeting buyers who want affordable electrified mobility without range anxiety.

The DOLPHIN G DM-i is powered by BYD’s latest Super Hybrid with DM technology, delivering what the company describes as an EV-like driving experience. A front-mounted electric motor provides smooth and responsive acceleration, while the hybrid system automatically manages energy use during longer trips.

One of the biggest highlights is its claimed driving range. With a fully charged battery and a full tank of petrol, the DOLPHIN G DM-i can travel more than 621 miles (1,000 km), giving it a major advantage over many traditional internal combustion superminis and some fully electric compact cars.

Designed for everyday European driving, the DOLPHIN G DM-i measures 4.16 meters long and 1.825 meters wide, placing it squarely in the heart of the region’s supermini category. Despite its compact footprint, BYD says the model delivers family-friendly practicality along with advanced digital technology and efficient electrified performance.

According to Stella Li, the company aims to redefine expectations in the European compact-car market by bringing long electric range, intelligent hybrid technology and connected features into an accessible package.

The DOLPHIN G DM-i also marks an important milestone for BYD, as it is the first vehicle developed specifically for overseas markets. The launch further strengthens the automaker’s aggressive expansion strategy across Europe, where demand for affordable electrified vehicles continues to grow rapidly.

BYD confirmed that the DOLPHIN G DM-i will go on sale across European markets in the coming weeks, with first customer deliveries expected before the end of summer. Full technical specifications and equipment details will be announced closer to launch.
