Volvo EX30 Cargo Electric Van Debuts with 300-Mile Range and 1,000L Load Space

Volvo Cars has expanded its electric lineup with the launch of the EX30 Cargo—a smart, car-derived electric van designed specifically for fleet operators and business users seeking efficiency, practicality, and premium features.

Based on the popular Volvo EX30, this new variant transforms the compact SUV into a capable commercial vehicle without sacrificing the comfort, technology, and safety the brand is known for.

Practical Design Meets Electric Performance

The EX30 Cargo replaces the rear seats with a flat load floor and adds an access panel to the lower compartment, unlocking up to 1,000 litres of cargo space and a payload capacity of 390 kg. A robust bulkhead separates the cabin from the cargo area, while redesigned side panels and rear doors increase usability and storage efficiency.

For added convenience, the rear doors open wider to simplify loading, and a dedicated cargo work light improves visibility in low-light conditions. The underfloor subframe also includes extra mounting points, making the van adaptable for various commercial needs.

Multiple Powertrains, Up to 300 Miles Range

The EX30 Cargo offers a flexible range of electric powertrains to suit different business requirements:

– P3 (150 hp) Extended Range – ideal for efficiency-focused fleets
– P5 (272 hp) Standard and Extended Range – balanced performance and range
– P8 (428 hp) AWD – for high-performance demands

The MY27 P3 Extended Range variant delivers up to 300 miles of range, making it a compelling option for urban and regional operations.

Trim Levels and Technology

Available in Core, Plus, and Cross Country Plus trims, the EX30 Cargo comes well-equipped from the start.

Core trim highlights:

– Safe Space Technology safety suite
– Google Automotive Services integration
– Adaptive Cruise Control
– Front and rear Park Assist with rear camera
– Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
– 11 kW onboard charger with heat pump
– 18-inch Aero alloy wheels

Plus trim upgrades:

– Pilot Assist driver support
– Digital Key Plus
– Harman Kardon premium audio
– Heated front seats and steering wheel
– Two-zone climate control
– Wireless phone charging
– Dual-tone roof and 19-inch Aero wheels

Built for Fleets and Conversions

The EX30 Cargo is produced through a second-stage conversion process by Volvo Car UK, allowing both new orders and existing stock vehicles to be transformed into commercial variants. It will be available across Model Year 2026 and 2027 vehicles.

A Cross Country version adds increased ground clearance, catering to businesses that require more rugged capability.

Safety Remains a Priority

Despite its commercial focus, the EX30 Cargo maintains Volvo’s strong reputation for safety. The vehicle has undergone extensive testing to ensure all systems perform to the brand’s high standards, delivering confidence for both drivers and fleet managers.

Pricing and Availability

The EX30 Cargo is available now in the UK, starting from £36,010 OTR for the P5 standard range version. It is offered exclusively through Volvo Car UK’s fleet sales channels.

Final Thoughts

The Volvo EX30 Cargo brings a fresh approach to compact electric vans—blending premium features, practical design, and flexible powertrain options. For businesses transitioning to zero-emission mobility, it offers a compelling mix of efficiency, usability, and advanced technology in a compact footprint.
