2027 GMC Hummer EV ICON | 25 Celebrates 25 Years of the Hummer Nameplate

GMC is celebrating a quarter-century of the Hummer nameplate with the introduction of the 2027 GMC Hummer EV ICON | 25, a limited-production model that pays tribute to the original Hummer H2 while showcasing the latest advancements in the brand’s all-electric supertruck lineup.

Inspired by one of the H2’s most recognizable design elements, the anniversary edition revives the iconic yellow paint in a modern interpretation while adding exclusive styling details, unique interior touches, and commemorative features. The special edition also arrives alongside a series of updates that will be available across the entire 2027 Hummer EV range.

H2-Inspired Design Returns

The centerpiece of the Hummer EV ICON | 25 is its exclusive ICON exterior paint, a contemporary interpretation of the signature yellow color that helped make the Hummer H2 instantly recognizable.

The exclusive finish is complemented by:

– A Jet Black interior
– Black front approach shield
– Serialized instrument panel badging identifying each vehicle as part of the limited production run
– Exclusive infotainment graphics inspired by historic Hummer models
– A commemorative keepsake celebrating the model’s 25th anniversary

The ICON | 25 package will be available on both Pickup and SUV body styles in 2X and 3X trims.

2027 GMC Hummer EV Gets Meaningful Upgrades

Beyond the anniversary edition, the entire 2027 Hummer EV lineup receives several important enhancements.

One of the biggest updates is the addition of a native North American Charging Standard (NACS) port on every Pickup and SUV model. This gives owners direct access to Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network without requiring an adapter.

The 2027 Hummer EV also continues to support vehicle-to-home (V2H) bidirectional charging, allowing the truck to supply electricity to a properly equipped home during power outages when paired with the GM Energy PowerShift Charger and V2H Enablement Kit.

Additional model-year updates include:

– Five new exterior colors: ICON, Dark Ridge, Azurite Blue, Dark Ember and Deep Void Matte
– Two new 22-inch wheel designs

Capability Remains a Priority

While the styling receives fresh attention, the Hummer EV continues to deliver the off-road capability that defines the model.

Available features include:

– 4-Wheel Steer
– CrabWalk
– King Crab rear-wheel steering
– Air Ride Adaptive Suspension
– Extract Mode, which raises the suspension by approximately six inches to clear difficult obstacles
– Multiple selectable drive modes

Technology also remains a major selling point, with available:

– Super Cruise hands-free driving assistance
– Infinity Roof with removable Sky Panels
– Up to 18 camera views on Pickup models for improved visibility on and off the road

Flagship 3X Delivers Supercar Performance

Performance figures remain among the most impressive in the electric truck segment.

Equipped with the optional 24-module battery pack, the 2027 GMC Hummer EV 3X Pickup produces:

– Up to 1,160 horsepower
– Up to 13,000 lb-ft of torque (GM estimate)
– 0-60 mph in as little as 2.8 seconds

These numbers continue to position the Hummer EV among the quickest production pickup trucks available.

Production Begins Later This Year

Production of both the standard 2027 GMC Hummer EV and the limited-edition ICON | 25 will begin later this year at GM’s Factory ZERO assembly plant in Detroit and Hamtramck, Michigan.

Both models will be sold in the United States and Canada. GMC says pricing will be announced closer to the start of production. For reference, the 2026 Hummer EV starts at approximately $99,000, with higher-spec 3X models exceeding $107,000.

Celebrating 25 Years of Hummer

The limited-edition model marks another milestone in the evolution of the Hummer nameplate.

Key moments include:

– 2002: Hummer H2 enters production and quickly becomes a mainstream automotive icon.
– 2004: Hummer H3 expands the lineup with a smaller off-road model.
– 2020: GMC announces the return of Hummer as a fully electric brand.
– 2021–2023: Hummer EV Pickup and SUV enter production at Factory ZERO.
– 2025–2026: New technologies such as King Crab steering and bidirectional charging are introduced.
– 2026: GMC celebrates the brand’s 25th anniversary with the Hummer EV ICON | 25.

Hummer EV Faces Slowing Demand

The anniversary celebration comes as the Hummer EV faces softer market demand.

GMC delivered 3,601 Hummer EVs during the first half of 2026, representing a 54.9% decline compared with the same period a year earlier. Second-quarter deliveries fell 56.8% to 1,948 units.

The slowdown reflects broader changes in the U.S. EV market following the expiration of the federal $7,500 EV tax credit at the end of 2025. Although the Hummer EV’s price exceeded the purchase-price cap for eligibility, many customers previously benefited from the incentive through leasing programs, an advantage that disappeared when the credit ended.

As demand has softened, General Motors has adjusted production plans for several premium electric vehicles, including the Hummer EV, Chevrolet Silverado EV, GMC Sierra EV, and Cadillac Escalade IQ.

Final Thoughts

The 2027 GMC Hummer EV ICON | 25 blends nostalgia with modern electric performance, celebrating one of the automotive industry’s most recognizable nameplates. Alongside its exclusive H2-inspired design, the anniversary model introduces meaningful technology upgrades shared across the 2027 lineup, including native NACS charging and continued bidirectional power capability.

While slowing sales highlight the challenges facing premium electric trucks, the ICON | 25 demonstrates GMC’s continued commitment to evolving the Hummer EV with distinctive styling, cutting-edge technology, and exceptional off-road capability.
