bp pulse extends TfL partnership to boost London’s EV charging network

bp pulse, one of the UK’s leading rapid and ultra-fast EV charging providers, has announced an extension of its long-standing agreement with Transport for London (TfL). The framework agreement, which commenced in 2018, underpins bp pulse’s commitment to delivering reliable, accessible charging solutions across London and the surrounding areas.

The bp pulse and TfL network encompasses over 150 chargers, located across London Boroughs and extending out as far as Watford and Epping Forest. These chargers play a crucial role in supporting the adoption of electric vehicles in the nation’s capital, with a particular focus on providing dedicated infrastructure for the ride-hail and taxi sector.

bp pulse has invested significantly in upgrading the existing charging estate, replacing some of the original units installed in 2018 with the latest charging technology. These next-generation chargers are not only more reliable but are seeing an average increase of 50% in usage compared to older units, demonstrating strong uptake among EV drivers.

Phases one, two and three of the upgrade programme are complete, delivering almost 130 new chargers, while Phase four (covering a further five chargers) is scheduled for completion by end of November.

This extensive upgrade programme reflects bp pulse’s wider mission to build a high-quality, dependable public charging network that keeps Londoners moving.

Valerio Ferro, General Manager at bp pulse UK, comments: “We are delighted to extend our agreement with TfL to 2029. We’ve been working hard to upgrade the charging infrastructure across London and we’re about to enter the final phase of the upgrade. We’re seeing increased demand on the new chargers, showing how important it is for taxis and ride hails to have the EV infrastructure in the right places.”
