Zeekr unveils new flagship full-size plug-in hybrid SUV with 300 km electric range

The Chinese luxury carmaker Zeekr has pulled the covers off its first-ever plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model: the Zeekr 9X. This flagship full-size SUV is a powerhouse, promising to shake up the hybrid market with its cutting-edge technology and immense performance.

Underpinning the Zeekr 9X is the all-new SEA-S modular architecture. This advanced platform hosts a sophisticated hybrid system that’s a true engineering marvel. At its heart is a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine boasting a peak power output of 205 kW (275 hp) and a thermal efficiency of over 46%.

The engine is paired with three silicon carbide electric motors, which together deliver a staggering combined peak power of 1,030 kW (1,381 hp). To put that into perspective, Zeekr says this is comparable to the power of three W12 gasoline engines! This immense power enables the Zeekr 9X to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds, with a top speed of 240 km/h.

The Zeekr 9X features a groundbreaking CATL’s Freevoy battery, with a 70 kWh option that is the largest in any passenger PHEV to date. This massive battery gives the SUV a pure electric range of up to 302 km under CLTC conditions.

Even more impressive is the charging technology. Built on a 900V system, the battery supports a maximum 6C charging rate, meaning you can charge from 20% to 80% in an astonishingly quick 9 minutes.

The Zeekr 9X is set to begin pre-sales at the Chengdu Auto Show in late August, with an official market launch expected in Q3 of this year. Pricing is anticipated to range between 600,000 and 900,000 yuan (approximately $90,000 to $210,000 USD).
