2027 Toyota bZ Arrives with Up to 314 Miles of Range, NACS Charging

The Toyota bZ returns for the 2027 model year with the same formula that has helped establish it as Toyota’s flagship all-electric crossover in North America. While the model carries over unchanged, it continues to offer competitive driving range, fast-charging capability, practical SUV packaging, and an accessible starting price.

Available in XLE and Limited trims with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations, the 2027 Toyota bZ starts at $34,980 (excluding destination charges). The electric SUV is expected to arrive at U.S. dealerships this September.

Up to 314 Miles of Electric Range

Toyota continues to focus on balancing efficiency and everyday usability. Depending on trim and battery size, the 2027 bZ delivers between 236 and 314 miles of manufacturer-estimated driving range.

The lineup includes two battery options:

– 74.7-kWh battery
– 57.7-kWh battery

Estimated range by model:

ModelEstimated Range
XLE FWD Plus314 miles
Limited FWD299 miles
Limited AWD299 miles
XLE AWD288 miles
XLE FWD236 miles

Standard NACS Charging and Faster Road Trips

One of the biggest advantages for the 2027 model is its standard North American Charging System (NACS) connector, giving owners access to a large network of compatible DC fast chargers across the United States.

Battery preconditioning helps prepare the battery before fast charging, improving charging performance in varying temperatures.

Under ideal conditions, DC fast charging can replenish the battery from 10% to 80% in around 30 minutes.

The bZ also supports:

– Plug & Charge functionality at compatible charging networks
– Level 1 and Level 2 AC charging
– Standard dual-voltage charging cable
– Included adapters for J1772 and CCS charging stations

Power Output Ranges from 165 to 338 Horsepower

Toyota offers multiple powertrain configurations to suit different buyers.

The entry-level XLE FWD produces 165 horsepower, while higher-spec front-wheel-drive versions generate 221 horsepower. Buyers opting for all-wheel drive receive a substantial performance boost, with 338 horsepower available for quicker acceleration and improved traction.

Power is delivered through Toyota’s compact eAxles that utilize silicon carbide semiconductors, helping maximize efficiency while maintaining strong performance.

The dedicated e-TNGA battery-electric platform places the battery beneath the floor, creating a low center of gravity that contributes to improved stability, ride comfort, and handling.

Modern Exterior with a Familiar Toyota Design

The 2027 Toyota bZ retains its distinctive styling, highlighted by Toyota’s signature hammerhead front-end design and a full-width LED light bar.

The overall appearance remains clean, modern, and instantly recognizable as part of Toyota’s latest EV lineup.

Spacious Cabin with Large 14-Inch Display

Inside, the bZ emphasizes technology and comfort with a minimalist dashboard centered around a standard 14-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen.

Standard equipment includes:

– Dual wireless smartphone chargers
– Dual-zone automatic climate control
– Heated front seats
– 64-color ambient interior lighting
– Wireless connectivity features

Limited models add several premium upgrades, including:

– Heated and ventilated front seats
– Heated rear seats
– Radiant front foot-and-leg heaters
– SofTex seating surfaces

Passengers also benefit from generous interior dimensions, with 42.1 inches of front legroom, 35.3 inches of rear legroom, and up to 56.9 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded.

Warranty and ToyotaCare Coverage

The 2027 Toyota bZ is backed by Toyota’s comprehensive warranty package, including:

– 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty
– 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty
– 8-year/100,000-mile coverage for EV driving components, including the traction battery
– Corrosion warranty with no mileage limit

Toyota also includes ToyotaCare, which provides one year or 10,000 miles of scheduled maintenance, along with three years of roadside assistance.

Pricing and Availability

The 2027 Toyota bZ will begin arriving at Toyota dealerships across the United States in September 2026.

Pricing starts at $34,980 for the XLE FWD, positioning the electric crossover as one of Toyota’s most affordable battery-electric models.

With up to 314 miles of driving range, access to the expanding NACS fast-charging network, available 338-horsepower AWD, and a spacious, technology-rich interior, the 2027 Toyota bZ continues to offer a well-rounded package for drivers looking for an everyday electric SUV without significant changes from the previous model year.
