New Citroen Relay Electric is making its international debut at the CV Show in Birmingham, adding a zero-emission model to the Relay range.
Groupe PSA has made a commitment to introduce plug-in hybrid or electric versions of all new models starting in 2019, with electrified variants of each model available by 2025.
The launch of New Relay Electric at the CV Show 2019 is true to that promise, with the electrification of the largest vehicle in the range.
The Citroen Relay Electric on display at the CV Show is an L1 H1 panel van.
Like its Peugeot Boxer Electric sibling, the Citroen Relay Electric will be offered with two range options depending on wheelbase size. L1 and L2 models will get an all-electric range of 225 kilometres (141 miles), while the longer L3 and L4 models will manage 270 kilometres (169 miles) on a single charge.
The Citroen Relay Electric will do a maximum speed of 90 km/h (about 55 mph) and can carry a payload of 1,215kg. Charging will take 16 hours from a standard domestic socket, eight hours from a 7kW charger or seven hours from a 22kW source. Prices and on sale dates are yet to be announced.
New Citroen Relay Electric models will be produced at the Sevel factory in Val di Sangro, Italy and converted by partner BD Auto.
Citroen also said that in the medium van segment, the Citroen Dispatch and SpaceTourer will offer an electrified version in 2020.
In the C-van segment, the Citroen Berlingo Electric has already existed since 1998. The new generation of the Berlingo Electric will be available by 2021.
