DS Automobiles is opening orders for its E-TENSE range (initially in France, Switzerland and Norway) for both models of its second-generation range: DS 3 CROSSBACK E-TENSE is the first 100% electric premium B-SUV (with a possible range of 200 miles) and DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4 is the first premium SUV plug-in hybrid (with 31 mile zero emissions mode range (WLTP drive cycle), also offering 300hp and four-wheel drive).

From this year onwards, each of our models will be offered with an E-TENSE electric or plug-in hybrid version, version, which uses energy in the most efficient way by regenerating energy during braking. E-TENSE is a complete mobility solution which anticipates future regulations and uses energy in the most efficient way assisted through energy recovery from braking. DS Automobiles is offering a range of services to support drivers of its electric E-TENSE models. Through the MyDS app, it is possible to programme or switch on charging of DS 3 CROSSBACK E-TENSE and DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4 and to follow their state of charge on a smartphone. Thermal preconditioning, which allows the cockpit temperature to be set, can also be controlled remotely. It provides a 3% range extension before setting off plus considerable comfort.
Connected to the services offered by Free2Move, E-TENSE also offers new possibilities directly accessible by smartphone or through the special Charge My DS Pass.
Charge My DS Pass enables the user, through a subscription, to find and access a select network of electric charging points compatible with their vehicle. In addition to full mapping, a shortlist of charging points is given according to distance and available range. When a charging point has been selected, the app can guide the user to it, either on a smartphone or from the car’s screen. At this stage, 90,000 charging points have already been pinpointed around Europe.
DS Trip Planner offers drivers the best route by analysing the car’s range and how it is being driven. The user can prepare their journey, be guided and know they are going to pass charging points. DS Trip Planner lets the driver choose the best route with relevant charging points and enables them to estimate the duration of their journey, including charging time.
With DS Mobility, the other models of DS range will be available for rental, thanks to a simple and effective program with Free2Move Rent.
This suite of services E-TENSE completes the programme ‘Only You, DS Experience’ offered to all DS drivers such as DS Assistance.

DS 3 CROSSBACK E-TENSE
The first 100% electric premium compact SUV on the market, DS 3 CROSSBACK E-TENSE offers electrified performance in an elegant environment that is the DS Automobiles signature.
The electric drivetrain of DS 3 CROSSBACK E-TENSE is made up of a 100kW (136hp) electric motor with 260Nm of torque, linked to a 50kWh Lithium-ion battery and a system for recovering energy during deceleration and braking. The range is 200 miles (WLTP drive cycle), or 267 miles on the NEDC drive cycle and the performance revolutionises driving, with acceleration from 0 to 30mph possible in just 3.3 seconds.
Comfort sets new standards with remarkable management of road noise and the absence of engine vibration. Driving behaviour is improved by the compact battery being centrally located and low down. The battery is placed entirely under the floor. The weight of the battery is partially compensated by a weight saving of 50 kilograms in other components relative to an equivalent DS 3 CROSSBACK.
Three driving modes are offered: ECO to maximise range, NORMAL, and SPORT with extra torque. These are complemented by two energy recovery options, inherited from Formula E, which can be controlled by the driver: NORMAL to simulate the behaviour of an internal combustion engine and BRAKE which decelerates at 1.2 m/s.
Range is maximised by the ability to pre-set cockpit and battery temperature before driving and incorporates a very efficient heating pump. The 100kW rapid charging adds 5.5 miles of range every minute and will complete an 80% charge in 30 minutes. For charging the battery at home, DS is offering connected DS Smart Wallbox whose three-phase version will allow a complete charge in only 5 hours. Another version with single-phase offering enables a 100% battery charge in 8 hours. The personalised diagnostic service is integrated into the offer in order to evaluate the customer’s electrical installation and point the customer to the best choice.
In this 100% electric version, DS 3 CROSSBACK E-TENSE stands out with satin chrome and E-TENSE signatures, a specific rear bumper (without exhaust finishers), exclusive KYOTO 18 inch alloy wheels and new Pearl Crystal paintwork. Along with opening to order for DS 3 CROSSBACK E-TENSE, DS Automobiles is presenting a limited edition launch model DS 3 CROSSBACK E-TENSE La Première with the DS Inspiration RIVOLI Pearl Grey leather, offering a white steering wheel, special mirror covers and unique roof decoration. DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4: the high-performance hybrid by DS Automobiles
Through avant-garde technology, DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4 is the first premium C-SUV to offer a performance hybrid capable of covering 31 miles (WLTP drive cycle) just using electrical energy drawn from its 13.2kWh battery with energy recovered during deceleration and braking. With its 200hp petrol engine and two electric motors, DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4 has a total deployable power output of 300hp and 450Nm of torque with four-wheel drive.
The appealing design of DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4 is emphasised by special 19 inch LONDON alloy wheels and the new Crystal Pearl paint. Attention to detail is illustrated by the embossed ‘E’ on the gear lever. This plug-in hybrid model can be specified in a new DS Inspiration, RIVOLI Pearl Grey leather.
DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4 stands apart with its drive modes. The ‘ELECTRIC’ mode lets you drive on battery power, with no CO2 emissions for 31 miles (WLTP cycle) at up to 84mph. It is the default start mode. ‘SPORT’ mode favours power and driver enjoyment, ‘HYBRID’ mode automatically optimises vehicle performance with energy consumption. CO2 emissions are 49g/km (WLTP drive cycle) with a Combined fuel consumption of 128.4mpg (WLTP drive cycle). The ‘4WD’ mode allows drive to all four wheels.
The function ‘E-SAVE’ allows the driver to recharge their battery at any time thanks to the internal combustion engine and therefore enables sufficient energy to be saved to drive in ‘ELECTRIC’ mode for a chosen part of the journey. The result of expertise acquired in Formula E, DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4 can extend its range by regenerating energy during deceleration and braking through the ‘BRAKE’ function.
The map available on DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4’s wide touchscreen shows in real time how far it is possible to drive in electric mode as well as charging points. The battery in DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4 charges in one hour and 45 minutes from a DS Wallbox.
