ChargePoint to Equip Daimler Retailers in Germany with EV Charging Solutions

ChargePoint, one of the world’s biggest operators of charging equipment for electric vehicles, has been selected by Daimler to deploy charging solutions for retailers in Germany as the automaker prepares for a significant increase in electrified models in the coming years.

Building upon a collective commitment to furthering the mass adoption of electrification in Europe, the agreement comes after Daimler led ChargePoint’s $125 million Series G funding round last year as a means to support the expansion of the company into Europe.

The deal includes the deployment of AC and fast chargers up to 150 kW at Daimler-owned properties beginning this year and into 2019. The charging solutions will be available for retailers of Mercedes-Benz Cars, Vans and Trucks. Daimler retailers across the country are increasingly investing ahead Daimler’s push into electric vehicles in the coming years.

“Following a significant investment from Daimler last year, the two companies have continued to work closely on a wide range of strategic projects as both companies prepare for the mass adoption of electric mobility in Europe,” said Christopher Burghardt, Managing Director for Europe, ChargePoint, Inc. “As ChargePoint continues to scale in the midst of the most aggressive period of growth in its history, this agreement is another milestone in our ongoing partnership with Daimler.”

The announcement comes on the heels of a $240 million fundraise in November, the largest in ChargePoint history. With a diverse array of investors from a wide range of sectors including automotive, energy, oil and gas, financial, and technology sectors, the successful fundraise underscores the growing commitment to cleaner more sustainable transport across industries globally. The latest fundraising effort brings ChargePoint’s total funding to more than half a billion dollars to date and will support the expansion of charging solutions as the company prepares for the mass adoption of electric mobility and the transition to fleets around the world.

With a growing team strategically placed around Europe, this new partnership with Daimler comes in advance of several developments that will further deepen ChargePoint’s portfolio and position the company as the transition in mobility accelerates.
