VIA Motors and Recargo, Inc. announced they have signed an agreement to include Recargo’s PlugShare charging infrastructure information in VIA’s in-dash electric vehicle application.
The agreement was announced at a news conference today at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.
PlugShare is the world’s most comprehensive listing of public, paid and free charging stations with over 28,000 plugs in North America, and 55,000 global locations currently in its database world wide. With plug-in electric vehicle sales growing rapidly, EV owners can quickly locate the nearest charge station using the PlugShare website and apps on mobile devices.
VIA Motors is a leading maker of extended range electric trucks and vans. VIA plans to unveil its iPad in-Dash electric vehicle control system in the 2014 production vehicles.
“Including comprehensive charge station information in VIA’s electric vehicles will help our customers find a charge whenever and wherever they need one, which can improve vehicle efficiency and reduce emissions,” said VIA President, Alan Perriton.
Brian Kariger, CEO of Recargo, said, “We are very pleased that VIA has selected PlugShare to be included in the VTRUX connected vehicle and iPad offerings. We look forward to working with VIA and providing their drivers with an integrated and informed EV experience.”
