Wayve, NVIDIA and Stellantis Join Forces to Advance Autonomous Driving in France

Wayve, NVIDIA and Stellantis have teamed up with the French government to accelerate the development and deployment of autonomous vehicles in France, with the broader goal of advancing AI-powered mobility across Europe.

The collaboration was announced at the Assises du Véhicule Autonome, France’s autonomous vehicle forum. It brings together expertise in artificial intelligence, automotive engineering, computing and vehicle manufacturing to help move autonomous driving technology closer to real-world deployment.

France is expected to play a central role in the initiative as the partners work to establish a stronger European ecosystem for autonomous mobility, from AI computing hardware to production-ready vehicles.

The collaboration combines three key technologies and areas of expertise. Stellantis will contribute its L4-Ready Platforms alongside its vehicle engineering and manufacturing capabilities. These platforms are designed to support the development of vehicles equipped for Level 4 autonomous driving.

Wayve will provide its AI Driver technology, which uses an AI-based approach to understand and navigate real-world driving environments. The system will integrate NVIDIA Halos OS and run on NVIDIA’s Hyperion computing and sensor architecture.

Together, the technologies are intended to provide a foundation for developing and deploying autonomous vehicles at scale.

NVIDIA brings its automotive computing and safety technology expertise, while Stellantis contributes the vehicle platforms and production capabilities needed to bring autonomous driving systems into real-world vehicles. Wayve’s AI Driver adds the intelligence required to navigate complex road environments.

The partnership aims to strengthen the entire autonomous vehicle value chain, creating opportunities for closer cooperation between technology developers, automakers and public authorities.

France has emerged as an important location for AI development and autonomous mobility. The country has a substantial ride-hailing market and hosted the AI Action Summit in Paris in 2025, where €109 billion in AI investment was announced.

Its automotive engineering capabilities, technology sector and government interest in autonomous transport make France a strategic base for the initiative.

The French government is also working to adapt the regulatory framework for autonomous vehicles while maintaining strict requirements for safety and data sovereignty. These issues will be critical as the industry moves beyond testing toward broader commercial deployment.

French Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot welcomed the collaboration, highlighting the importance of regulatory preparation and cooperation between industry, government and local stakeholders.

The initiative is intended to demonstrate how public authorities and private companies can work together to establish the conditions needed for autonomous vehicles to operate safely and responsibly.
