Kia PV7 Electric Van Debuts With 460+ Km Range and Up to 1,200 Kg Payload

Kia has unveiled the new PV7 electric van at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover, Germany, expanding its growing Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) lineup into a larger and more versatile light commercial vehicle segment.

Positioned above the PV5, the Kia PV7 will be offered in both Cargo and Passenger versions, combining an all-electric powertrain with flexible interior configurations, advanced connectivity and business-focused technology.

Kia plans to launch the PV7 in Korea and Europe during the second half of 2027, with additional markets, derivatives and conversion models expected to follow.

Kia PV7 Expands the Brand’s Electric Van Strategy

The PV7 is the second model in Kia’s dedicated PBV lineup, following the PV5, which was named the 2026 International Van of the Year.

While the PV5 focuses on urban flexibility, Kia has developed the PV7 around its “Tool Box” concept, giving it greater capacity and payload capability for logistics, fleet operations, shuttle services, small and medium-sized businesses and other demanding applications.

The PV7 is based on Kia’s dedicated E-GMP.S electric vehicle architecture and uses the company’s Flexible Body System. This allows Kia to offer multiple body styles, derivatives and conversion models from the same basic platform.

Kia says its PBV strategy is built around three key areas: hardware, software and service. The goal is not simply to provide an electric commercial vehicle, but a connected business tool designed to improve productivity and reduce operating costs.

Kia PV7 Battery, Range and Performance

The Kia PV7 will be available with 71.5-kWh and 96.2-kWh NCM battery packs.

Depending on the market and configuration, the electric powertrain produces up to 200 kW of power and 420 Nm of torque, with front-wheel drive standard. Kia also plans to introduce an all-wheel-drive version in the future.

The PV7 Long Range Cargo can deliver more than 460 km of WLTP range, giving businesses considerably more flexibility for daily delivery and commercial operations.

The van also uses an 800-volt electrical architecture. Kia says the PV7 can charge from 10% to 80% in the mid-20-minute range when connected to a 350-kW DC fast charger, although the charging specification remains subject to confirmation.

Another notable feature is the availability of dual charging ports, including a front AC/DC charging port and an optional rear-side AC charging port.

PV7 Cargo Offers Up to 8.0 Cubic Meters of Space

The PV7 Cargo is designed primarily for logistics, deliveries, fleets and commercial operators.

Depending on the configuration, the Cargo model can offer up to 6.1 cubic meters of cargo volume in the Long version or as much as 8.0 cubic meters in the High Roof version.

Payload capacity reaches 1,165 kg for the Long model and up to 1,200 kg for the Compact variant.

The Long version has a 550-mm loading height and can accommodate up to three Euro pallets. Kia has also developed a dedicated heavy-load driving mode that adjusts vehicle behavior according to payload conditions.

Practical details include a choice of a full-open twin-swing tailgate or conventional lift-up tailgate. A load-through bulkhead and independent cargo-door locking further improve the vehicle’s usefulness for commercial operators.

The PV7 Cargo also features Smart Walk Away, which can automatically close the powered sliding door when the driver walks away with the smart key. Cargo-door status can also be checked remotely.

PV7 Passenger Can Carry Up to 11 People

The PV7 Passenger takes a different approach, focusing on crew transport, shuttle services, rental operations, tourism and family use.

It can accommodate up to nine occupants globally, while the Korean market will offer configurations capable of carrying up to 11 people.

The seven-seat version features Long-Rail Easy Remove Seats, allowing the cabin layout to be adapted to different requirements. The nine-seat model can also be configured with or without a fourth row.

Passenger-focused features include rear climate control, available 100W USB-C charging ports, additional storage solutions and power-sliding doors.

These features give the PV7 the flexibility to function as both a commercial shuttle and a more practical large electric passenger vehicle.

Connected Technology and AI Are Central to the PV7

Kia is also positioning the PV7 as a connected commercial vehicle rather than simply an electric van.

The Kia Business Solutions Portal is designed to help fleet operators manage vehicles, charging, maintenance and daily operations. Fleet Management System tools and connected vehicle data APIs can provide businesses with greater visibility into vehicle use.

Kia’s dedicated Uptime services add real-time monitoring, predictive diagnostics and proactive maintenance management, with the aim of reducing downtime.

Inside the vehicle, Pleos Connect, based on Android Automotive OS, provides connected navigation, flexible screen layouts, over-the-air updates and access to an app marketplace containing first- and third-party applications.

The system also incorporates Gleo AI, an AI-powered voice assistant designed to handle vehicle, navigation and messaging functions using natural-language commands.

V2L Adds Extra Utility for Businesses

The PV7 also includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability.

The system can supply power to tools, business equipment and other electrical devices through interior and exterior outlets. For businesses operating away from conventional power sources, this could add another layer of usefulness to the electric van.

Combined with the heavy-load driving mode, Kia is clearly targeting customers who need an electric commercial vehicle capable of handling changing workloads rather than simply transporting passengers or cargo.

Safety and Driver Assistance

Kia has equipped the PV7 with a comprehensive collection of safety and driver-assistance systems.

The vehicle features a seven-airbag system, including a roof-mounted front passenger airbag. Pedal Misapplication Safety Assist 2.0 is designed to reduce the possibility of unintended acceleration caused by incorrect pedal operation.

Available driver-assistance technology includes Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist 2.0, Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control, Highway Driving Assist 2.0, parking distance warnings and Remote Smart Parking Assist.

A Rear View Monitor and Surround View Monitor provide additional visibility around the vehicle, while Built-in Cam 3.0 allows drivers to capture and review driving footage.

A More Distinctive Design for a Commercial EV

The PV7 adopts Kia’s Opposites United design philosophy, combining a tall, upright body with a squared-off cab-forward profile and flat roofline.

The design builds on the PBV identity introduced by the PV5 but gives the larger PV7 a more substantial appearance.

A black hood treatment, hidden headlamps, distinctive daytime running lights and a robust lower bumper give the front end a recognizable appearance. The protective skid plate also emphasizes the vehicle’s commercial purpose.

Along the side, Kia uses a floating-roof graphic, extensive glazing and a lowered front beltline to improve visibility and create a more open appearance.

Pronounced fenders, black wheel-arch cladding and variant-specific glazing help distinguish the Cargo and Passenger versions.

At the rear, practical door and tailgate designs are combined with replaceable bumper corners, wheel-arch sections and door cladding intended to simplify repairs and reduce downtime.

Practical Interior Designed Around Drivers and Operators

The PV7’s interior is designed around the reality that commercial drivers can enter and exit their vehicles dozens of times during a working day.

An A-pillar grab handle, optimized seating position and revised step geometry are intended to make entry and exit easier.

The cabin combines digital displays with physical controls for frequently used functions. Depending on configuration, the vehicle features 12.9-inch and 14.6-inch displays for vehicle information and connected services.

The Cargo version uses Kia’s “Mobile Workspace” concept, providing open storage and a layered dashboard layout. On three-seat models, the center seatback can fold down to create an additional tray.

The Passenger version focuses more heavily on comfort, with lounge-inspired materials, enclosed storage, available ambient lighting and an optional center console that can double as a table.

Bio-based and recycled materials are also used throughout the PV7.

Kia Plans 23 PV7 Variants

The PV7 launch models are only the beginning of Kia’s plans for the electric commercial vehicle.

The company intends to expand the lineup to 23 variants following the 2027 launch. The range will include Cargo Compact, Long and High Roof versions, Passenger Compact and Long models, a dedicated Chassis Cab and a variety of conversion models.

Kia’s Hwaseong EVO West PBV Plant and PBV Conversion Center will support production of standard and converted vehicles, while regional conversion partners will add further flexibility.

A single connector interface will allow conversion equipment to be controlled from within the vehicle.

Kia also plans to introduce the larger PV9 in 2029, further expanding its PBV range.

Kia PV7 Launch Date

The Kia PV7 Passenger and Cargo models are scheduled to launch in Korea and Europe in the second half of 2027.

Kia has not yet provided final pricing in the supplied information. Additional markets, derivatives and conversion versions will follow after the initial launch.

With more than 460 km of WLTP range, up to 1,200 kg of payload capacity, fast 800-volt charging, V2L capability and a wide range of commercial configurations, the PV7 represents a significant expansion of Kia’s ambitions in the electric van market.

Rather than targeting only traditional van buyers, Kia is positioning the PV7 as a flexible electric platform that can be adapted to logistics, passenger transport, fleet management and specialized commercial applications.
