Mazda has revealed UK pricing and specifications for its all-new CX-6e electric SUV, with the new model set to arrive in British showrooms later this year.
The Mazda CX-6e will be offered in two highly equipped versions from launch: the £42,990 Takumi and flagship £45,350 Takumi Plus. With a 78kWh battery, rear-wheel drive and up to 300 miles of WLTP range, the CX-6e enters the increasingly competitive electric SUV market with a strong combination of range, performance and technology.
Unveiled at the Brussels Motor Show in January, the CX-6e represents another major step in Mazda’s expanding electric vehicle lineup, following the Mazda6e electric sedan.
Mazda CX-6e delivers up to 300 miles of range
The Mazda CX-6e uses a 78kWh lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) battery connected to a rear-mounted electric motor producing 258PS and 290Nm of torque.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a single-speed transmission. The electric SUV can accelerate from 0-62mph in 7.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 115mph.
Range is rated at up to 300 miles on the WLTP cycle, giving the CX-6e enough range for longer journeys while retaining the convenience expected from a modern family EV.
Charging performance is also competitive. The CX-6e supports DC fast charging at up to 200kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 24 minutes. An 11kW three-phase onboard AC charger is also included, with home and public charging available through a Type 2 connection.
Two highly equipped Mazda CX-6e versions
Mazda is keeping the UK CX-6e range relatively simple, with both versions receiving a generous level of standard equipment.
The CX-6e Takumi starts at £42,990 and comes with 19-inch alloy wheels. Buyers can upgrade to 21-inch wheels for an additional £1,000.
The Takumi Plus, priced at £45,350, comes with 21-inch wheels as standard and adds several premium features, including digital rear-view and side cameras. It also gains a translucent interior styling bar with ambient lighting, heated outer rear seats and ventilated outer rear seat bases.
The flagship model also adds additional rear touchscreen controls, allowing passengers to operate selected comfort and convenience functions from the second row.
Inside, the CX-6e is available with Stone or Black Maztex upholstery on Takumi models, while the Takumi Plus features a two-tone Amethyst and White Maztex interior.
Maztex is Mazda’s vegan alternative to leather and is designed to combine durability, easy maintenance and comfort.
Huge 26.45-inch touchscreen takes center stage
Technology is one of the major selling points of the new Mazda CX-6e.
The cabin features a large 26.45-inch touchscreen with a customisable dual-split layout. The system is designed to give both the driver and passengers access to information while reducing distractions behind the wheel.
A large head-up display supplements the central screen by projecting navigation information into the driver’s field of view.
Mazda has also equipped the CX-6e with gesture control, allowing certain functions such as saved routes and music selections to be controlled without physically touching the screen.
Natural-language voice recognition provides another way to interact with the vehicle, including commands for functions such as climate control, windows and navigation.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, while a dedicated Mazda smartphone app provides remote functions including battery charge management and Bluetooth key sharing.
Spacious electric SUV with up to 1,434 litres of cargo space
The CX-6e combines its sleek exterior design with a practical interior aimed at family buyers.
Its 2,902mm wheelbase and short overhangs help create a spacious cabin, while Mazda has drawn inspiration from the Japanese concept of Ma, which emphasizes the beauty and usefulness of open space.
Cargo capacity stands at 468 litres with the rear seats in place. Folding the second row increases available luggage space to 1,434 litres, making the CX-6e more versatile for family trips and larger loads.
The SUV will be available with seven exterior colours, including the flagship Nightfall Violet finish. The deep gloss colour is designed to shift from purple highlights to almost black depending on the lighting.
Mazda CX-6e brings extensive safety technology
Safety technology is standard across both UK versions.
The CX-6e features nine airbags along with a network of high-definition cameras, millimetre-wave radar and ultrasonic sensors designed to monitor the vehicle’s surroundings.
Standard driver assistance technology includes Mazda’s Smart Brake Support, Lane Keeping Assist and Blind Spot Monitoring, helping provide additional protection and driver confidence in everyday traffic and on longer journeys.
The combination of cameras, radar and sensors also supports the vehicle’s broader suite of active safety and driver assistance functions.
Mazda’s next step in electric SUV expansion
The CX-6e is positioned as an important model in Mazda’s wider electrification strategy. With the brand already expanding its EV lineup with the Mazda6e, the new electric SUV gives Mazda a stronger presence in one of Europe’s most competitive EV segments.
Its combination of rear-wheel drive, 300-mile range, fast charging and a high level of standard equipment could make the CX-6e an interesting alternative to established electric SUVs.
The relatively straightforward UK lineup also means buyers will not have to navigate a long list of trims and options to get the major technology features.
