Vauxhall has revealed pricing, specifications, and performance details for the new Corsa GSE, an electric hot hatch that brings the brand back into the high-performance supermini segment. With 281PS, a 0-62mph sprint of just 5.5 seconds, and a track-inspired chassis, the Corsa GSE becomes the fastest-accelerating production Vauxhall model currently available.
Priced from £32,995 including the Electric Car Grant (ECG), with an official On-The-Road price of £34,495, the new Corsa GSE combines the heritage of legendary Vauxhall performance models such as the Nova GTE/GSi, Corsa GSi, and Corsa VXR with the company’s latest electric vehicle technology.
Vauxhall Corsa GSE Delivers 281PS Electric Performance
At the heart of the Corsa GSE is the same high-performance electric powertrain used in the rally-inspired Mokka GSE. The compact electric hot hatch produces 281PS (207kW) and 345Nm of torque, giving it a class-leading power-to-weight ratio of 181hp per tonne.
The result is a 0-62mph acceleration time of 5.5 seconds, making the Corsa GSE the quickest production Vauxhall ever sold.
Drivers can select from three driving modes:
– Sport mode unlocks the full 281PS output with performance-focused calibration.
– Normal mode delivers 231PS (170kW) for everyday driving.
– Eco mode prioritises efficiency by reducing performance and lowering the top speed from 112mph to 93mph.
Power comes from a 54kWh lithium-ion battery pack (51kWh usable capacity), providing up to 232 miles (WLTP) of range.
The Corsa GSE supports rapid charging at up to 100kW, allowing the battery to charge from 0-80% in around 30 minutes. An 11kW onboard charger is standard, with a full AC charge taking approximately 5 hours and 45 minutes using an 11kW charger or around 7 hours and 30 minutes from a 7kW home charger.
The model also features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, allowing owners to power external devices using energy stored in the battery.
Nürburgring-Inspired Chassis and Performance Upgrades
Beyond its electric powertrain, the Corsa GSE has received extensive chassis upgrades designed to deliver sharper handling and a more engaging driving experience.
Developed with input from Nürburgring testing, the hot hatch features a Torsen mechanical limited-slip differential, uprated steering, upgraded brakes, and a heavily revised suspension setup.
Compared with the standard Corsa, the GSE sits lower with a 24mm front and 11mm rear ride-height reduction, while wider tracks improve stability. Suspension spring rates have been increased, and the rear axle benefits from a larger anti-roll bar for improved cornering performance.
Steering response has also been enhanced with a revised knuckle design and a quicker 14.5 steering rack ratio. Braking performance comes from Alcon four-piston front calipers with 355mm discs, providing strong stopping power and improved resistance to brake fade.
Buyers can choose between two tyre options. The standard Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres focus on maximum performance, while Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 tyres increase driving range to 232 miles.
Aggressive Electric Hot Hatch Styling
The Corsa GSE features a more aggressive design compared with the standard Corsa, bringing classic hot hatch styling into the electric era.
At the front, a unique GSE bumper, large air intakes, and a prominent splitter create a sportier appearance, complemented by sharp Intelli-Lux Matrix LED headlights. The rear receives a muscular bumper, black spoiler, and performance-inspired detailing.
Additional exterior upgrades include:
– High-gloss black wheel arch extensions
– GSE side badging
– Dark tinted rear windows
– Optional contrasting black roof
– 18-inch black diamond-cut alloy wheels inspired by historic Vauxhall GTE models
– Signature GSE yellow brake calipers
The Corsa GSE is available in five colours, including Carbon Black as standard, while Voltaic Blue, Contour White, Crystal Silver, and Graphic Grey are available as optional finishes.
Sporty Interior With Sustainable Materials
Inside, the Corsa GSE continues its performance-focused theme with heated Alcantara and cloth sports seats featuring integrated head restraints and a black, grey, and yellow chequered design inspired by classic Vauxhall models.
The cabin also includes a heated Alcantara-covered flat-bottom steering wheel, aluminium pedals, yellow seat belts, and yellow contrast stitching.
Sustainable materials are also used throughout the interior, including ReNewKnit door inserts made from recycled PET plastic bottles with a suede-like finish.
Technology highlights include a pair of 10-inch displays, including a digital driver instrument panel and touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The system offers GSE-specific performance information such as G-force readings, acceleration data, torque output, and battery statistics.
Standard equipment includes wireless smartphone charging, USB-C ports, a six-speaker audio system, heated and folding mirrors, keyless entry, and start functionality.
Advanced Safety Technology Included
The Corsa GSE comes equipped with Vauxhall’s PureSense safety package, offering a wide range of driver assistance systems.
Features include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, lane positioning assist, blind spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, and a 180-degree rear-view camera.
With its combination of high performance, everyday usability, and zero-emission driving, the Vauxhall Corsa GSE marks a new chapter for electric hot hatches and brings traditional Vauxhall sporting DNA into the EV era.
