Opel/ Vauxhall Mokka Electric Gets More Power And Range

Opel/Vauxhall Mokka-e is becoming the Mokka Electric with the “Winner of the Golden Steering Wheel 2021” now getting even more powerful, efficient, and attractive.

With the new 54kWh battery, Mokka Electric drivers can cover up to 406 km or 252 miles (WLTP) – an improvement of 20% over the outgoing 50kWh unit. Orders for the Mokka Electric with a 54kWh battery will open from March 2023 with first deliveries commencing from the Spring.

Replacing the current 50kWh unit, the new 54kWh battery is also more efficient, requiring just 15.2kWh of electricity to cover 62 miles (100km). It is coupled with a more powerful 156hp electric motor (an increase of 20hp), enabling the Mokka Electric to accelerate from 0-62mph in under 10 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 93mph.

Despite its increased range, the Mokka Electric’s compact battery size and efficient packaging ensures no space is lost in the passenger or luggage compartment.

Depending on their preference, Mokka Electric drivers can choose between the three driving modes Eco, Normal and Sport. In Eco mode, the electric SUV is most energy-efficient in favour of the overall range. Thanks to a state-of-the-art regenerative braking system, the Mokka Electric can also recuperate energy when decelerating or braking. The electric motor then converts the forward momentum into electricity. If the driver shifts the transmission into the B mode, recuperation and braking torque increase. And when the compact SUV has to “refuel”, the 54 kWh battery can be recharged to up to 80 percent state-of-charge in around 30 minutes at a 100 kW DC charging station. The Mokka Electric has this fast-charging function as standard. In addition to direct current, Opel drivers can also charge three-phase alternating current thanks to the 11 kW onboard charger – via a wall box or with a cable for the household socket.

Efficiency and comfort are a given in the Mokka Electric. Numerous heating systems and technologies from the standard heat pump to the practical myOpel app, which can be used to program the pre-conditioning by remote control, ensure a cozy atmosphere right from the start – especially during the colder months of the year.

The Mokka was the first Opel/Vauxhall to be available with a fully electric powertrain from launch. Featuring the brand’s bold and pure design language, it was also the first model to introduce the Vizor front end and fully digitised Pure Panel cockpit.

With the arrival of the All-New Astra Electric and Astra Sports Tourer Electric in 2023, Opel/Vauxhall customers will have a choice of six fully electric passenger vehicles.
