Kia has expanded its lineup of UK government grant-eligible electric vehicles by confirming that the new EV2 Long Range now qualifies for the maximum £3,750 Electric Car Grant (ECG). The incentive reduces the compact electric SUV’s starting on-the-road price to £24,245, making it one of the most affordable long-range EVs currently available in the UK.
The latest announcement strengthens Kia’s position in the UK’s growing EV market, with the brand now offering multiple electric models that qualify for government incentives.
Kia EV2 Long Range Price and Range
The maximum Band 1 Electric Car Grant applies to EV2 models equipped with the 61.0kWh Long Range battery, including the following trims: Air, GT-Line and GT-Line S.
With the grant applied, the entry-level EV2 Long Range starts from £24,245 on the road.
In addition to generous standard equipment, these versions deliver an electric driving range of up to 275 miles on a single charge, making the EV2 suitable for both daily commuting and longer journeys.
EV2 First Edition Still Receives Government Support
Kia also confirmed that the EV2 First Edition continues to qualify for the Government Electric Car Grant.
Rather than receiving the full Band 1 incentive, the launch edition benefits from the £1,500 Band 2 grant, reducing its on-the-road price to £26,995. The First Edition remains one of the best-equipped variants in the EV2 lineup, offering a higher level of standard features for buyers seeking additional comfort and technology.
More Kia EVs Eligible for the Electric Car Grant
The EV2 joins several other Kia electric vehicles that are eligible for the UK Government’s Electric Car Grant.
Current qualifying models include:

– Kia EV3
– Kia EV4
– Kia PV5 Passenger
Depending on the model and trim level, eligible vehicles receive either the maximum £3,750 Band 1 grant or the £1,500 Band 2 grant.
Kia says it is one of only a handful of manufacturers currently offering fully electric vehicles that meet the requirements for the maximum incentive, reflecting the company’s progress in sustainable vehicle production and emissions reduction.
All qualifying models are available to order through Kia dealerships across the UK, while the PV5 Passenger can also be purchased through dedicated PBV Centres.

What Is the UK Electric Car Grant?
The UK Government’s Electric Car Grant is available for fully electric vehicles that meet strict requirements covering vehicle performance, sustainability and manufacturer commitments.
To qualify, manufacturers must demonstrate verified emissions reduction targets through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The programme ensures participating automakers are aligning their greenhouse gas reduction strategies with pathways designed to limit global warming and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 or earlier.
Kia’s Long-Term Electrification Strategy
The expanded grant eligibility also supports Kia’s broader electrification roadmap.
By 2030, the company plans to introduce 15 fully electric models alongside 10 hybrid vehicles. Looking further ahead, Kia aims to power all manufacturing facilities with 100% renewable energy by 2040 and achieve carbon neutrality across its entire product lifecycle by 2045.
These initiatives include participation in the RE100 renewable energy programme, conducting Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) across its vehicle range, and continuing to accelerate the development of new electric vehicles.
With the EV2 Long Range now available from £24,245 after the Government Electric Car Grant, Kia has made its newest compact electric SUV significantly more accessible while reinforcing its commitment to expanding affordable electric mobility in the UK.
