Kia EV2 First Edition Qualifies for UK Electric Car Grant

Kia has expanded its growing electric lineup in the UK with the new EV2 now officially qualifying for government support under the Electric Car Grant (ECG).

The move strengthens the brand’s position in the affordable EV segment while making its newest compact SUV even more accessible to buyers.

£1,500 Grant Now Available for EV2 First Edition

The Kia EV2 ‘First Edition’ is now eligible for the UK Government’s £1,500 Electric Car Grant, replacing the previously offered reservation saving of the same value. This incentive applies to both retail and fleet customers, effectively lowering the entry price of the model.

With the grant applied, the EV2 ‘First Edition’ drops from £28,495 to £26,995 on-the-road, improving its competitiveness in the compact electric SUV market.

Meanwhile, higher trims—including ‘Air’, ‘GT-Line’, and ‘GT-Line S’—continue to benefit from a separate £3,750 reservation saving, with potential ECG eligibility expected to be confirmed later.

Expanding List of Kia EVs with Government Support

The EV2 joins a growing list of Kia electric models that qualify for the ECG. Recent additions include the EV3 ‘Air’ and ‘GT-Line’, along with the EV4 ‘Motion’, all receiving the Tier 2 £1,500 incentive.

These models now sit alongside earlier qualifying variants such as the EV4 ‘Air’ and the PV5 Passenger ‘Essential’ and ‘Plus’, highlighting Kia’s broader push to make electric mobility more attainable in the UK.

Kia EV2 First Edition: Key Specs and Features

Designed specifically for European markets, the EV2 ‘First Edition’ delivers a compelling mix of practicality, performance, and value:

– Battery: 42.2 kWh Standard Range
– Range: Up to 190 miles (WLTP combined)
– Charging: 10–80% in approximately 29 minutes

Despite its entry-level positioning, the EV2 ‘First Edition’ comes well-equipped with premium features, including:

– 18-inch alloy wheels
– Adaptive LED headlights
– Harman Kardon 8-speaker premium audio system
– Wireless smartphone charging
– Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS)
– 15-litre front trunk (‘frunk’) for added storage

Deliveries Expected in 2026

Order books for the EV2 ‘First Edition’ are now open, with first customer deliveries scheduled for later in 2026. With government incentives now in place and a strong feature set, the EV2 is positioned as an attractive entry point into Kia’s expanding EV ecosystem.

Kia models with the Electric Car Grant

Kia now offers the EV2, EV3, EV4 and PV5 Passenger with the Electric Car Grant, enabling more retail and fleet customers to go electric. Each of these models are available to order now at Kia dealerships and PBV Centres across the UK.
