BYD Group will bring eight new vehicle debuts across its BYD, DENZA and YANGWANG brands to the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed, underlining the Chinese automaker’s rapidly expanding presence in the UK and European markets.
The showcase will include global debuts, European premieres and UK first appearances, with premium brand DENZA using the event as the platform for its official UK launch.
Among the headline attractions will be the YANGWANG U9 Xtreme, described as the world’s fastest production car, alongside the UK debut of the BYD DOLPHIN G DM-i plug-in hybrid supermini and the European premiere of the BYD SHARK pickup.
DENZA Launches in the UK With New Z Supercars
DENZA will take centre stage at Goodwood with the world premieres of the all-electric Z Coupe and Z Racing.
Both models build on the brand’s “Pure Emotion” design language, first previewed by the DENZA Z Spider concept at Auto China 2026. The Z Coupe shares the Spider’s three-motor electric powertrain, delivering a claimed top speed of 217 mph.
Despite its supercar performance, the Z Coupe is designed to retain everyday usability with a 2+2 seating layout and a practical luggage compartment.
The more extreme Z Racing version adds a dramatic carbon-fibre aerodynamic package and a more track-focused character.
Goodwood will also host the first European appearance of the DENZA BAO 5 premium SUV. Equipped with the brand’s DM-o Dual-Mode Off-Road plug-in hybrid system, the BAO 5 combines three electric motors with a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine for strong on-road performance and enhanced off-road capability.
DENZA’s UK rollout will begin with the Z9GT, followed by the D9 DM-i luxury MPV. The D9 DM-i features a seven-seat cabin with reclining and massaging second-row seats, heating and ventilation across all three rows, and at least 430 litres of luggage capacity with every seat occupied.
Its DM-i plug-in hybrid system delivers up to 130 miles of WLTP electric-only range, while a dual-motor setup produces 353 PS.
BYD DOLPHIN G DM-i and SHARK Make UK and European Appearances
BYD will use Goodwood to present the DOLPHIN G DM-i to UK audiences for the first time following its global debut in Berlin earlier this month.
Positioned in the supermini segment, the DOLPHIN G DM-i will stand out as a plug-in hybrid offering in a class largely dominated by petrol, hybrid and battery-electric models. BYD claims a total driving range of up to 646 miles, along with strong performance, advanced technology and a boot larger than those of many family hatchbacks.
The BYD SHARK pickup will also make its European debut at the Festival of Speed. It features a 435 PS DM-o plug-in hybrid powertrain, accelerating from 0-62 mph in 5.7 seconds.
BYD says the SHARK can travel up to 55 miles in electric-only mode and tow up to 2,500 kg, giving it the versatility expected from a modern electrified pickup.
YANGWANG U9 Xtreme Brings Record-Breaking Performance to Goodwood
YANGWANG will present the U9 Xtreme on UK soil for the first time.
The electric hypercar has already made headlines in Europe after recording a 6:59.157 lap at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, setting a production EV benchmark. It has also achieved an official production-car top speed record of 308.4 mph.
Its Goodwood appearance will also confirm availability for European customers.
The YANGWANG display will include the U7 luxury saloon, offered with both plug-in hybrid and battery-electric powertrains. The U7 features the brand’s e⁴ four-motor system, rear-wheel steering and DiSus-Z active suspension technology.
Also expected at the event is the YANGWANG U8L, a large luxury SUV with advanced off-road capability and the ability to float in water.
BYD Plans Its Largest Goodwood Festival of Speed Stand Yet
BYD Group says its Goodwood stand will be the largest in the history of the Festival of Speed.
Alongside the vehicles, visitors will find a dedicated technology zone, off-road display area, driving simulators, robots, merchandise store and a roof terrace for hospitality guests.
“With eight premieres across three distinct brands, BYD Group is demonstrating how innovation, performance, premium design and sustainability can coexist within one of the most comprehensive automotive portfolios in the world,” said Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD.
The 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed will give BYD a major platform to demonstrate the breadth of its electrified portfolio, from affordable plug-in hybrid superminis and pickups to luxury SUVs and record-setting electric hypercars.
