Peugeot Opens UK Orders for New E-408 Electric Fastback

French automaker Peugeot has opened UK order books for the revised 408 lineup, introducing updated styling, enhanced technology, and a fully electrified powertrain range led by the new all-electric E-408 fastback.

Positioned between a traditional fastback and an SUV coupe, the refreshed Peugeot 408 arrives with hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and battery-electric variants, while offering lower entry pricing than before. The range now starts at £31,995 OTR for the hybrid version, while the fully electric E-408 begins at £34,195 before the UK government’s £1,500 Electric Car Grant is applied. That effectively lowers the starting price to £32,695.

Peugeot E-408 Delivers Up to 283 Miles of Range

At the heart of the E-408 is a 58 kWh usable battery paired with a 210 hp electric motor producing 343 Nm of torque. Peugeot says the electric fastback can travel up to 283 miles on the WLTP cycle depending on trim level.

The E-408 also supports DC fast charging at up to 120 kW, allowing quicker charging stops on longer journeys. Drivers can select between three regenerative braking levels via steering wheel-mounted paddles, while battery preconditioning helps optimize charging performance in colder temperatures.

Peugeot has also equipped the E-408 with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, allowing owners to power external devices directly from the vehicle’s battery. The V2L adapter is available separately through Peugeot retailers.

UK Pricing and Trim Levels

The electric E-408 is available in three trims:

– Allure – from £34,195 (£32,695 after grant)
– GT – from £36,595
– GT Premium – from £39,095

WLTP range figures vary slightly depending on specification. Peugeot quotes up to 283 miles for Allure and GT models, while the GT Premium achieves up to 281 miles.

Alongside the EV, Peugeot continues to offer the 408 HYBRID and 408 PLUG-IN HYBRID variants. The plug-in hybrid combines a 1.6-liter petrol engine with a 92 kW electric motor, producing a combined 221 hp and up to 50 miles of electric-only WLTP range from its 16.2 kWh battery.

Sharper Styling With Illuminated Branding

The updated 408 receives several exterior revisions that further emphasize its distinctive fastback silhouette. A redesigned front grille, revised bumper treatment, and Peugeot’s signature “three-claw” daytime running lights give the model a wider and more aggressive stance.

Higher-spec GT and GT Premium trims gain illuminated Peugeot badging front and rear, making the 408 the first Peugeot model to feature illuminated rear lettering across the tailgate.

The E-408 also introduces exclusive 19-inch “Adakite” alloy wheels finished in a dedicated Graphite design. Plug-in hybrid GT Premium versions upgrade to larger 20-inch “Monolithe” diamond-cut alloys.

A new Flare Green metallic paint joins the color palette alongside Okenite White, Selenium Grey, Nera Black, and Elixir Red.

Upgraded Cabin and Technology

Inside, Peugeot has refined the 408’s cabin with upgraded materials and updated digital interfaces. Every model comes equipped with Peugeot’s signature i-Cockpit layout, including a 10-inch digital instrument cluster and 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

GT models add connected navigation and configurable virtual i-Toggles shortcuts for frequently used functions, while GT Premium versions feature a 3D digital instrument display.

Higher trims also bring premium comfort features including heated and massaging front seats, Alcantara upholstery, a FOCAL premium audio system, and an advanced suite of driver assistance technologies such as rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, and a 360-degree camera system.

Peugeot Expands Its Electrified Lineup

With the revised 408 range, Peugeot continues expanding its electrified portfolio across Europe. The addition of the E-408 gives buyers another alternative in the growing electric fastback segment, combining coupe-inspired styling with crossover practicality and competitive EV range figures.

The new Peugeot 408 lineup is available to order now in the UK.
