Vauxhall has officially opened order books for the new Grandland Griffin, a value-focused trim that replaces the outgoing Design specification across both electric and hybrid models.
The move strengthens the Grandland line-up with a more compelling balance of price and standard equipment, making electrified driving more accessible to UK buyers.
The Griffin trim builds on the already well-equipped Design model but introduces several visual and comfort upgrades as standard. Exterior changes include black 19-inch alloy wheels, or 20-inch diamond-cut alloys on the electric version, alongside a contrasting black roof and tinted rear windows. Signature styling cues such as the 3D Vizor front end and illuminated rear Vauxhall lettering remain intact, preserving the SUV’s modern identity.
Inside, the Grandland Griffin adds meaningful upgrades aimed at everyday usability. Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel now come as standard, while the driver’s seat is AGR-certified for ergonomic support. It offers 10-way adjustability, including pneumatic lumbar support and powered cushion tilt, enhancing long-distance comfort.
Technology and safety features continue to be a strong point. The Griffin trim retains adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane keep assist, front and rear parking sensors, and a rear-view camera. Intelli-LED lighting is also included, ensuring strong visibility in all conditions. A 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto sits alongside a 10-inch digital driver display, delivering a modern in-car experience.
Electric and Hybrid Powertrain Options
The Grandland Griffin is available with a choice of electrified powertrains, catering to different driving needs.
The fully electric version features a 73kWh battery paired with a 213hp motor producing 345Nm of torque. Efficiency-enhancing features such as a standard heat pump help deliver a WLTP range of up to 322 miles. Rapid charging capability allows an 80% top-up in around 30 minutes using a 160kW DC charger, keeping downtime to a minimum.
For those not ready to go fully electric, a 48V hybrid option is also available. It combines a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor to produce a combined 145PS. This setup allows for electric-only driving in urban environments for a significant portion of journeys. The hybrid is paired with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and delivers up to 51.4mpg (WLTP), with CO₂ emissions as low as 123g/km.
Electric All In: Simplifying EV Ownership
As with all Vauxhall electric models, the Grandland Electric Griffin is offered with the “Electric All In” package. This initiative is designed to ease the transition to electric motoring by bundling practical ownership benefits.
Customers receive eight years of roadside assistance, including emergency charging support. There is also a £500 credit that can be used towards home charging solutions, on-street charging installations, or public charging networks. Additional incentives include the equivalent of 10,000 miles of free home charging when switching to a compatible energy tariff, plus access to connected services via Vauxhall Connect Plus.
Pricing and Value Positioning
Pricing is where the Grandland Griffin makes its strongest case. The hybrid version starts from £31,480 on the road, representing a saving of over £5,000 compared with the previous Design trim, despite the increased equipment levels.
The fully electric Grandland Griffin starts from £34,495 (after the Electric Car Grant), undercutting the outgoing equivalent while offering improved specification. This positions it as one of the more accessible electric SUVs in its segment, particularly given its range and charging capabilities.
Overall, the introduction of the Griffin trim reinforces Vauxhall’s strategy of delivering higher specification at lower price points. With both hybrid and fully electric options available, the Grandland Griffin broadens appeal while maintaining competitive running costs and strong everyday usability.
