Skoda Epiq Interior Teased Ahead of 19 May Debut

Skoda Auto has offered the first official preview of the interior of its upcoming Epiq, a compact all-electric SUV set to become the brand’s most affordable EV.

The model will make its global debut in Zurich at 2 p.m. on 19 May 2026, marking a major step in Skoda’s plan to expand its battery-electric lineup.

Positioned below the Enyaq and Elroq, the Epiq is designed to bring electric mobility to a broader audience, particularly urban drivers and first-time EV buyers.

Minimalist Interior Meets Modern Solid Design

The Epiq is the first production Skoda model to fully implement the brand’s new “Modern Solid” design language. Inside, this translates to a clean, horizontal layout that replaces the traditional dashboard, creating a more open and spacious feel.

The cabin focuses on clarity and usability. A structured layout ensures intuitive controls, while ambient lighting enhances comfort. A freestanding centre console integrates wireless charging, and an open storage compartment highlights everyday practicality.

Sustainability is also central to the design, with carefully selected materials aligned with Skoda’s eco-conscious approach.

Compact Size, Practical Range

Built on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB+ platform, the Epiq combines city-friendly dimensions with impressive usability. Roughly comparable in size to the Kamiq, it still manages to deliver a WLTP range of up to 267 miles (430 km).

This makes it suitable not only for daily commuting but also for longer journeys—an important factor in the increasingly competitive compact EV segment.

Fast charging further strengthens its appeal. The top variant supports DC charging up to 133 kW, allowing a 10–80% recharge in just over 20 minutes.

Flexible Powertrain Options

The Epiq will be offered with three power outputs and two battery configurations, giving buyers flexibility depending on budget and driving needs.

Entry-level versions use cost-efficient LFP batteries, improving durability and affordability, while higher trims benefit from a larger NMC battery for extended range and performance. All variants support 11 kW AC charging, with DC charging speeds ranging from 50 kW to 133 kW.

Exterior Design Focused on Efficiency

The Modern Solid philosophy extends to the exterior, where a minimalist yet robust SUV look is paired with aerodynamic efficiency. A drag coefficient of 0.275 helps maximise range.

Key design elements include a distinctive T-shaped LED light signature, a closed-off Tech-Deck Face, and aerodynamic features such as active air shutters and integrated air curtains. Wheel sizes range from 17 to 19 inches, optimised for efficiency.

Higher trims will offer Matrix-LED headlights with adaptive lighting modes for different driving conditions.

Spacious Cabin and Class-Leading Practicality

Despite its compact footprint, the Epiq delivers strong practicality thanks to its dedicated EV platform. Boot capacity stands at 475 litres with the rear seats in place, expanding to 1,344 litres when folded.

Additional interior storage totals nearly 26 litres, reinforcing its everyday usability. Classic Skoda “Simply Clever” features are also included, such as an umbrella in the door, a parking ticket holder, and a dedicated storage bag for charging cables.

Competitive Pricing Strategy

Skoda aims to price the Epiq close to the combustion-engine Kamiq in many markets, offering buyers a genuine choice between electric and petrol power at a similar cost. This pricing strategy could make it one of the most accessible EVs in its class.

The Epiq is part of the Volkswagen Group’s Core Electric Urban Car family, sharing technology with models like the Cupra Raval and upcoming Volkswagen ID. entries, helping to keep costs competitive through economies of scale.

A Key Model in Skoda’s EV Expansion

The Epiq arrives as Skoda builds strong momentum in the electric market. Models like the Elroq and Enyaq have already secured top-selling positions in Europe, reinforcing the brand’s growing presence in the EV space.

With the Epiq, Skoda is targeting one of the fastest-growing segments: entry-level electric SUVs. By combining affordability, practical range, and modern design, it is positioned to play a pivotal role in bringing EV ownership to a wider audience.

The official unveiling in Zurich on 19 May 2026 is expected to reveal full specifications and market availability, setting the stage for one of the most important electric SUV launches in Skoda’s lineup.
