AUDI E7X Debuts as a Flagship Electric SUV for China

At Auto China 2026, the new AUDI brand—developed through a collaboration between Audi and SAIC Motor—has unveiled its first all-electric SUV, the AUDI E7X. Following the launch of the E5 Sportback, this large premium SUV signals the brand’s continued push into China’s rapidly evolving EV market.

Built at the AUDI production facility in Anting, Shanghai, the E7X is scheduled to go on sale in the first half of 2026. It aims to combine Audi’s engineering DNA with a digital ecosystem tailored specifically for Chinese consumers.

Large, Tech-Focused SUV Built on a New Platform

The AUDI E7X sits on the Advanced Digitized Platform (ADP), featuring a zonal electronic architecture designed for next-generation connectivity and over-the-air updates. Measuring just over five meters in length with a 3,060 mm wheelbase, the SUV delivers a commanding presence while maximizing interior space.

A standout highlight is its 900-volt electrical architecture, enabling ultra-fast charging and strong performance. Buyers can choose between:

– A 300 kW rear-wheel-drive variant
– A 500 kW quattro all-wheel-drive model, capable of 0–100 km/h in 3.9 seconds

Battery options include 100 kWh and 109 kWh packs, with the latter offering more than 750 km of CLTC range. Thanks to 4C fast-charging capability, the battery can be replenished from 10% to 80% in just 13 minutes.

Reimagined Design Language for the Electric Era

The E7X introduces a refined interpretation of AUDI design, blending clean surfaces with bold proportions. A distinctive lighting signature defines both front and rear, highlighted by the innovative AUDI Light Frame, which uses over 1,000 micro light elements embedded beneath the surface.

Digital Matrix LED headlights further enhance safety and visibility by adapting light distribution in real time, while also projecting helpful visual cues onto the road in low-visibility conditions.

Smart Cabin with AI Integration

Inside, the E7X emphasizes comfort and digital immersion. The cabin features a minimalist, horizontally layered layout with high-end materials such as open-pore wood and Fine Nappa leather.

Two seating configurations are available:

– A five-seat layout for families
– A four-seat executive version with rear lounge seating

The rear cabin can transform into a cinema-like environment, thanks to a 21.4-inch retractable display and a premium audio system. The Bose Performance Series setup delivers a 360-degree sound experience with up to 26 speakers.

A key highlight is the AI-powered AUDI Assistant 2.0, developed with ByteDance. It supports natural conversations, manages vehicle functions, and adapts its interaction style depending on driving conditions.

Driving Dynamics and Advanced Assistance

Despite its size, the E7X promises agile handling thanks to standard all-wheel steering and adaptive air suspension. The system reduces the turning circle to just 10.3 meters, improving urban maneuverability.

Driver assistance is handled by the lidar-based AUDI 360 Driving Assist system, co-developed with Momenta. Designed specifically for China’s complex traffic conditions, it supports both highway and urban assisted driving scenarios.

Advanced parking features—including memory parking and flexible space recognition—further enhance usability in dense city environments.

Expanding AUDI’s Electric Lineup in China

The E7X represents the second model under the AUDI brand and plays a critical role in expanding its EV portfolio. Positioned in the premium SUV segment, it reflects a broader strategy of combining global engineering expertise with localized innovation.

With a third all-electric sedan already planned for 2027, the AUDI brand is clearly accelerating its ambitions in China’s competitive EV market.

The AUDI E7X stands out as a technologically advanced, highly digitalized SUV designed to meet the expectations of modern premium EV buyers—delivering performance, range, and a deeply integrated smart experience.
