Honda Super-N Brings BOOST Mode and Retro-Inspired Fun to Urban Driving

Honda is set to shake up the entry-level electric vehicle segment with the all-new Super-N, a compact EV designed to deliver an engaging and characterful driving experience. Blending retro-inspired styling with modern electric technology, the Super-N targets drivers seeking affordability without sacrificing excitement.

Built around the brand’s long-standing “Man-Maximum, Machine-Minimum” philosophy, the model prioritizes driver enjoyment and passenger comfort while keeping its footprint and complexity minimal.

Lightweight Platform Meets Dynamic Performance

Previewed with the Super-ONE Prototype concept last year, the Super-N is based on the lightweight architecture of Honda’s N Series kei cars, widely known in Japan for their efficiency and smart packaging. This foundation enables the vehicle to remain one of the lightest EVs in Europe—an important factor in delivering responsive handling and improved efficiency.

A key highlight is the innovative BOOST Mode, which temporarily increases the output of the compact e-Axle from 47 kW to 70 kW. This feature adds a burst of performance, making city driving more engaging and responsive.

Enhancing the experience further is a simulated seven-speed transmission paired with an Active Sound Control system. Together, they recreate a more traditional driving feel, blending the instant torque of an EV with the emotional appeal of a combustion engine.

Designed for Everyday Driving

Honda has calibrated the Super-N extensively across varied road conditions in both Japan and the UK, ensuring it is well-suited to urban environments and daily commutes.

The EV delivers:

– Up to 199 miles (320 km) of city range
– Around 128 miles (206 km) combined range

This makes it ideal for short daily trips while still offering flexibility for occasional longer journeys.

Retro-Inspired Design with Modern Flair

Visually, the Super-N draws inspiration from the iconic 1980s Honda City Turbo II, resulting in a bold and distinctive appearance. A wide stance, pronounced bumpers, and functional aero ducts give the compact EV a sporty, performance-oriented look.

Inside, the cabin continues the nostalgic theme with modern execution:

– Supportive, comfort-focused seating
– Blue interior accents referencing the original City Turbo II
– Ambient lighting that shifts from blue to purple when BOOST Mode is activated

Customization plays a big role in the Super-N’s appeal, with multiple exterior colors, graphics, and optional two-tone finishes featuring a contrasting black roof and rear spoiler.

Affordable Entry into Electric Driving

Honda plans to launch the Super-N in the UK starting July, with a price expected to come in below £20,000. This positions it as one of the more accessible electric vehicles on the market, particularly for urban drivers and first-time EV buyers.

A New Take on the “Joy of Driving”

With its combination of lightweight engineering, playful performance features, and distinctive design, the Super-N aims to redefine expectations for compact EVs. It delivers practicality and efficiency while staying true to Honda’s core principle of making driving enjoyable—even in the electric era.
