2026 BYD Sealion 06 DM-i Launches With 193-Mile EV Range And Lidar Option

BYD has officially launched the updated 2026 Sealion 06 DM-i in China, introducing a significantly longer electric-only driving range, faster charging capability, and optional lidar-assisted driving technology.

The refreshed plug-in hybrid SUV is positioned as one of the most advanced mainstream PHEVs in its segment, combining up to 310 km (193 miles) of CLTC-rated electric range with a total driving range of 1,845 km (1,146 miles).

Longer Electric Range And Improved Efficiency

One of the biggest upgrades for the 2026 Sealion 06 DM-i is the addition of new long-range variants reportedly called the 305 Long-Range and 305 Flagship trims. Dealer information in China suggests pre-deduction pricing of approximately 150,000 yuan ($22,100) and 160,000 yuan ($23,600), respectively.

The updated model continues to use BYD’s fifth-generation DM hybrid system, but certain trims now feature a larger 38 kWh battery pack that dramatically extends pure-electric driving capability.

BYD says the SUV can deliver:

– Up to 310 km (193 miles) of CLTC electric-only range
– Up to 1,845 km (1,146 miles) of combined driving range
– Fuel consumption of just 3.3 L/100 km when operating with a depleted battery

Powertrain specifications include a 1.5-liter gasoline engine producing 74 kW and a more powerful 175 kW electric motor. Charging performance has also improved, with DC charging capability increasing to 74 kW.

The extended electric range could allow many drivers to complete daily commuting, errands, and urban driving with little or no gasoline usage while still retaining long-distance flexibility through the hybrid powertrain.

Optional Lidar And Advanced Driver Assistance

Another major highlight is the availability of a lidar-equipped configuration paired with BYD’s DiPilot 300 assisted-driving system, part of the company’s “God’s Eye” technology suite.

The optional package, reportedly priced at 12,000 yuan (around $1,770), adds enhanced navigation-assisted driving functions for both urban roads and highways, along with advanced parking assistance features.

Standard versions of the Sealion 06 DM-i continue to use the DiPilot 100 system, also known internally as “God’s Eye C.”

The addition of lidar technology reflects the rapidly evolving competition in China’s EV and hybrid market, where advanced driver-assistance systems are increasingly becoming available in more affordable vehicles.

Premium Interior Technology And Comfort Features

Inside, the updated Sealion 06 DM-i adopts many of the cabin upgrades introduced in the recently revealed Sealion 06 EV.

Interior features include:

– 15.6-inch floating infotainment display
– BYD DiLink smart cockpit system
– W-HUD head-up display
– 50W wireless smartphone charging
– Electronic column-mounted shifter
– Panoramic glass roof with powered sunshade
– 12-speaker Dynaudio audio system
– Integrated fragrance system

Higher-spec variants also add a “zero-gravity” front passenger seat with powered leg support, while front occupants can benefit from seat heating, ventilation, massage, memory, and welcome functions.

The rear cabin maintains a flat-floor layout designed to maximize passenger comfort and interior space.

Strong Momentum For Sealion 06

The Sealion 06 lineup continues to perform strongly in China’s domestic market. Sales reportedly reached 19,649 units in April, representing a 7.7% increase compared to March.

With its combination of long electric range, lower fuel consumption, upgraded technology, and premium interior features, the updated Sealion 06 DM-i highlights how quickly plug-in hybrid SUVs are evolving in the world’s largest EV market.
