BYD DOLPHIN Cargo e-Van Arrives in UK With 265-Mile Range

BYD has introduced the new DOLPHIN Cargo e-Van, a compact electric commercial vehicle designed specifically for UK business and fleet operators. Based on the BYD DOLPHIN hatchback, the new cargo-focused model combines passenger-car comfort with practical load-carrying capability and long electric driving range.

The conversion from passenger vehicle to light commercial vehicle is completed in the UK, supporting local engineering expertise while tailoring the van to the requirements of British businesses.

Practical Cargo Space in a Compact Footprint

The BYD DOLPHIN Cargo e-Van has been reconfigured to maximise practicality for commercial use. Rear seats have been permanently removed and replaced with a full metal bulkhead behind the front seats, creating a secure load area.

The cargo compartment offers 1,093 litres of load capacity, including a 47-litre underfloor storage section. Load dimensions include a maximum load length of 1,250mm and a minimum width of 1,018mm between the wheel arches, expanding to 1,160mm at its widest point. Maximum load height is rated at 710mm.

To improve durability for everyday business use, the van features a phenolic ply-trimmed flat load floor, reinforced door cards and protective rear bumper film. Businesses can also choose additional rear window security solutions, including polycarbonate panel options.

Up to 265 Miles of WLTP Range

Power comes from a 204PS electric motor paired with a 60.4kWh battery pack. BYD claims the DOLPHIN Cargo e-Van can deliver up to 347 miles of urban driving range and up to 265 miles combined under WLTP testing.

The van also supports fleet efficiency with an optional 70 mph speed limiter designed to help reduce energy consumption and optimise operating costs.

At the core of the vehicle is BYD’s Blade Battery technology, which uses Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) chemistry. The cobalt-free battery system is designed to improve durability, safety and thermal stability compared with conventional battery technologies.

High Equipment Levels for Fleet Operators

Unlike many compact commercial vehicles, the DOLPHIN Cargo e-Van includes a strong list of standard technology and comfort features. The specification is based on the DOLPHIN Comfort trim level and includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing the vehicle to power external equipment directly from the battery.

This feature could prove especially useful for mobile servicing, maintenance work, portable lighting and tool charging on-site.

Standard equipment also includes:

– Heat pump technology
– Heated steering wheel
– Heated front seats
– 360-degree parking camera
– Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration

BYD will additionally offer a range of bespoke fleet conversion and upfit solutions, including reversing alarms, amber warning beacons, custom storage layouts and vehicle livery options.

UK Pricing and Availability

The BYD DOLPHIN Cargo e-Van is now available to order through participating BYD retailers across the UK.

Pricing starts from £29,358 excluding VAT, or £36,305 including VAT. Fleet support services are also available through the BYD UK Corporate Sales Team for business customers and large commercial operators.

As demand for zero-emission commercial vehicles continues to grow, the DOLPHIN Cargo e-Van gives fleet buyers another practical electric option that combines long range, strong equipment levels and compact urban usability.
