First UK order for the electric PEUGEOT e-208 placed on the same day as its public debut

Car buyers usually wait until they can drive a new model before signing on the dotted line but one PEUGEOT customer couldn’t even wait to see the all-new e-208 before placing a deposit.

On the same day the all-new PEUGEOT e-208 made its public world debut at the Geneva Motor Show, Neal Street paid a deposit at Truscott’s PEUGEOT Barnstable to secure one of the very first vehicles to arrive in the UK. He wanted to be at the front of the queue and placed his order before official order books opened.

Street, a self-confessed car enthusiast, wasn’t put off by the fact PEUGEOT is yet to confirm UK pricing. He said: “I have total confidence in the PEUGEOT brand. The information I gathered online gave me all the information I needed to place a deposit. From past experience I expect the price of the all-new e-208 to be competitive and I really like its distinctive design, especially inside.”

The all-new PEUGEOT 208 will be available with a choice of battery electric, petrol and diesel powertrains. As part of PEUGEOT’s ambition to provide an electrified version of every model in its range by 2023, the 100% electric all-new e-208 is powered by a 100kW motor and features a 50kWh battery, delivering a zero-emission range of up to 211 miles (WLTP) from a full charge.

Managing Director of PEUGEOT UK, David Peel, said: “I was excited to hear the news of the first PEUGEOT e-208 order being placed so soon after its unveiling. The 2019 Geneva Motor Show was always going to be an important event for us as we launch the first in a new generation of electrified PEUGEOT models and we are all thrilled that the all-new e-208 has had such an immediate impact.”

Customers can choose from a range of charging methods for the all-new PEUGEOT e-208, including 100kW rapid charging, capable of achieving an 80% charge in as little as 30 minutes.

Mr. Street said: “The PEUGEOT e-208 really stood out to me from the moment I saw it. The bold and distinctive design cues of the car, especially those of the interior and the digital driving aids made the e-208 really appealing. The eye-catching style adds to the sense of refinement that comes with driving an electric car. I can’t wait to drive my car and to get fully immersed into the world of EVs.”

Customers, who want to be the first to order the all-new PEUGEOT 208 online, can make a reservation in April 2019, with the full range open for orders late Summer 2019.
