Audi is bringing the A2 name back to the UK for the electric era. The all-new Audi A2 e-tron launches in Britain with a starting price of £32,200, combining compact dimensions, premium technology and up to 397 miles of range.
The new electric hatchback is scheduled to reach its first UK customers in early 2027. Selected versions equipped with the 52 kWh and 61 kWh batteries will also qualify for the UK Government’s £1,500 Electric Car Grant, making the entry point even more attractive for buyers moving into an electric car.
The A2 e-tron is designed around the same efficiency-focused philosophy that made the original Audi A2 distinctive, but with a modern electric powertrain and significantly more technology.
Audi A2 e-tron Offers Up to 397 Miles of Range
The new A2 e-tron will be offered with three battery capacities: 52 kWh, 61 kWh and 84 kWh. Depending on the battery and motor combination, power outputs range from 170PS to 326PS.
Audi will offer four power outputs: 170PS, 190PS, 231PS and 326PS, with all versions using a single-speed automatic transmission and permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors.
Range varies between 261 miles and 397 miles, with the largest 84 kWh battery providing the longest-distance capability.
That makes the A2 e-tron more than a city-focused electric hatchback. Although its compact exterior and short overhangs are designed to make it easy to maneuver in urban environments, Audi says its spacious cabin and 2.77-metre wheelbase also make it suitable for longer journeys.
Efficiency is one of the car’s biggest selling points. The A2 e-tron’s aerodynamic body achieves a drag coefficient of just 0.24, helping reduce energy consumption at higher speeds while also contributing to lower wind noise.
Audi has incorporated additional aerodynamic and refinement measures, including airflow management features, dual-line door seals, acoustic glazing and window-edge water deflection channels.
Compact Dimensions, Premium Interior
Despite its relatively compact footprint, the Audi A2 e-tron is designed to provide a spacious interior. The cabin features Audi’s new wraparound fabric “Softwrap” treatment, alongside premium materials and practical storage solutions.
Technology is also a major part of the package.
Entry-level Technik models come with Audi’s 12.8-inch curved MMI touch display and an 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit. The system includes the Audi smartphone interface, Audi App Store, AI-supported Audi assistant and Audi Phonebox wireless smartphone charging.
Front seat and steering wheel heating, ambient lighting and a broad selection of driver assistance systems are also included.
Adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind spot assistance and parking system plus with a rear-view camera are among the available safety and convenience technologies.
Four Audi A2 e-tron Trim Levels
Audi will offer four specification levels in the UK: Technik, Sport, S line and Edition 1, although availability depends on the selected powertrain.
The entry-level Technik version rides on 18-inch alloy wheels and features LED lighting at the front and rear. The Sport grade moves to 19-inch alloy wheels and adds MMI experience plus with an eight-speaker Audi sound system.
The S line version introduces a more aggressive appearance, including black 19-inch Audi Sport wheels, black exterior detailing and privacy glass. Inside, S line models receive sport seats with S embossing, microfibre upholstery and a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel with a flat-bottom design.
The most powerful 326PS configuration with S line trim also gains progressive steering and suspension with damper control, along with Audi drive select.
At the top of the range is Edition 1, available with the 231PS and 326PS powertrains. It adds 20-inch black metallic Audi Sport wheels and upgraded Matrix LED headlights with four selectable daytime running light signatures.
Edition 1 models also receive upgraded LED rear lighting, red-stitched microfibre upholstery, electric seat adjustment and additional ambient lighting.
Audi has also expanded the technology package on the flagship models with features including proactive occupant protection, park assist plus and 3D and 360-degree camera systems.
A New Efficiency-Focused Audi EV
The new Audi A2 e-tron represents a different approach to the premium electric car. Rather than relying solely on a large battery, Audi has focused heavily on aerodynamic efficiency, intelligent packaging and energy management.
With a maximum range of 397 miles, a starting price of £32,200 and compact dimensions, the A2 e-tron could become an important model for buyers looking for a smaller premium EV without sacrificing long-distance capability.
Its combination of efficiency, technology and premium equipment also gives Audi a new competitor in the increasingly crowded electric hatchback market.
UK deliveries of the new Audi A2 e-tron are expected to begin in early 2027.
