GM’s South Korean unit, GM Daewoo Auto & Technology, will provide 10 electric vehicles as part of a demonstration fleet to the Seoul G20 Summit Committee and Seoul Municipality for use during the gathering of global leaders in South Korea’s capital on Nov. 11-12.
Three electric Chevrolet Cruzes will be used by foreign media and seven electric GM Daewoo Lacetti Premieres will be used by the G20 Summit Committee.
The Cruze/Lacetti EVs are equipped with a 31-kWh battery that generates maximum power of 150 kW. The products in the demonstration fleet will be monitored closely to determine the amount of real-world range achievable by vehicles of their size.
On specific test schedules conducted by LG Chem, the demonstration vehicles may achieve a range of up to 160 km (100 miles). The vehicles can go from 0 to 100 km/h (60 miles per hour) in 8.2 seconds with a maximum speed of 165 km/h (102.5 miles per hour).
The demonstration fleet of Cruzes and Lacetti Premieres is part of GM’s effort to gather information on the functioning of pure EVs worldwide. Developed through cooperation between GM Daewoo, LG Chem and LG Electronics, the demonstration fleet was unveiled in mid-September.
