Electric Circuit Has Reached the 5,000-Member Mark

The Electric Circuit has just passed a new milestone by reaching 5,000 members. Participation in Québec’s largest public charging station network doubled in the past year, with 2,400 new members joining since August 2014.

Over 70 % of electric vehicle drivers in Québec now have an Electric Circuit card and use it as needed, which is in line with the network’s mission of providing top-up charging to electric vehicle users.

“Since its launch in March 2012, the Electric Circuit has expanded considerably and remains the largest public charging network for electric vehicles in Québec. This initiative, carried out thanks to the support of the network’s partners, makes a significant contribution to transportation electrification by meeting the charging needs of electric vehicle owners. It is worth noting that Québec is home to nearly half the electric vehicles sold in Canada,” said France Lampron, Director – Transportation Electrification at Hydro-Québec on behalf of the partners of the Electric Circuit.

The Electric Circuit is pursuing its development, in particular with the installation of fast-charge stations. By the end of 2016, 50 fast-charge stations will be available on main highways and in big cities in Québec. The Electric Circuit recently announced the location of these stations.

This initiative is made possible thanks to the support of partners like Nissan Canada, who will create the first 25 sites offering 400-V fast-charge stations.
