Polestar has expanded its electric SUV lineup with the launch of the new Polestar 4 SUV, a more practical version of the Polestar 4 designed to combine coupe-inspired styling with increased cargo capacity and everyday usability.
Positioned in the compact executive SUV segment, the new Polestar 4 SUV retains the performance-focused character and technology of the Polestar 4 coupe while adding a more upright rear end, additional headroom, roof rails and greater luggage capacity.
In the UK, the Polestar 4 SUV starts at £54,750 for the Rear motor version.
Production has already started in Busan, South Korea, with the first customer deliveries planned for the fourth quarter of 2026.
Polestar 4 SUV Gets a More Practical Design
The Polestar 4 SUV retains the distinctive design language of the existing model, including its sleek body, strong stance, dual-blade headlights and illuminated Polestar logo.
The biggest visual change is at the rear. A straighter roofline and more upright tailgate increase practicality while giving the vehicle a more traditional SUV profile. Full-length roof rails are also standard and allow a dynamic roof load of up to 100 kg.
Polestar is offering the SUV with an expanded eight-color exterior palette. New options include Aurora, a bright silver-green finish, and Ozone Matte, a bright silver-purple matte finish.
Inside, the minimalist cabin design of the Polestar 4 continues, with a technology-focused dashboard and a landscape-oriented center display. The infotainment interface now offers nine widget shortcuts on the main screen, compared with six previously.
A 12-speaker Harman Kardon Premium Sound system with a 1,400-watt channel-hybrid amplifier is available as an option and has been specifically tuned for the SUV version.
More Rear Headroom and Up to 1,680 Litres of Storage
The new SUV body brings some of its biggest benefits to passengers and cargo.
Rear-seat occupants gain 2.5 centimeters of additional headroom, while the standard panoramic glass roof has been enlarged and extended toward the tailgate. An optional electrochromic glass roof can electronically adjust its tint to reduce glare and control how much light enters the cabin.
Cargo capacity is another major advantage over the coupe-shaped Polestar 4.
The Polestar 4 SUV offers 530 litres of rear cargo space measured to the seatbacks, increasing to 655 litres when measured to the inner roof. Folding the 60/40 split rear seats increases luggage capacity to 1,665 litres.
Including the front and rear luggage compartments, total storage capacity reaches 1,680 litres.
Polestar 4 SUV Offers Up to 391 Miles of Range
The Polestar 4 SUV uses the same SEA architecture as the Polestar 4 coupe and launches with two powertrain options.
The range starts with the Rear motor version, which produces 200 kW (272 hp) and 343 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 7.3 seconds and offers up to 391 miles of WLTP range.
The more powerful Dual motor version delivers 400 kW (544 hp) and 686 Nm of torque. It can reach 62 mph in just 3.9 seconds while providing up to 373 miles of WLTP range.
Both versions use a 100 kWh nominal battery. DC fast charging is supported at up to 200 kW, while AC charging can reach 22 kW in selected markets.
The chassis has been tuned to balance long-distance comfort with the responsive handling and steering precision expected from a Polestar performance EV.
Buyers seeking sharper driving dynamics can choose the Performance pack, which adds recalibrated ZF active dampers, high-performance Brembo brakes and 22-inch Performance wheels fitted with Pirelli P Zero tires.
V2L and New Camping Mode Add More Versatility
The Polestar 4 SUV also introduces features designed to make the electric SUV more useful away from the road.
Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality allows the high-voltage battery to supply electricity to external equipment, including camping gear, power tools and other electronics. The system can provide up to 3.3 kW of AC power through a certified charging adapter.
Drivers can set a minimum battery level, allowing the vehicle to stop supplying power once the selected reserve is reached.
A new Camping mode takes the concept further by turning the parked Polestar 4 SUV into a climate-controlled space. Occupants can access entertainment, lighting and vehicle controls from the front and rear displays, while V2L, USB-C ports and the 12V outlet provide additional connectivity and power.
Google Gemini Comes to the Polestar 4
Technology is another major part of the Polestar 4 SUV experience.
Google Gemini replaces traditional command-based voice interaction with a more conversational AI system capable of understanding context and handling multi-step requests.
Gemini can be used for vehicle-related questions as well as hands-free tasks through Gemini Live, including brainstorming, trip planning and real-time translation. The feature is available across Polestar markets.
Sustainable Materials Remain a Key Focus
Polestar has also focused on reducing the environmental impact of the new SUV.
The Polestar 4 SUV has a cradle-to-gate carbon footprint of 21.1 tCO2e for the Dual motor version and 20.2 tCO2e for Rear motor models.
The company says reductions come from measures including renewable electricity used in battery cell production, renewable-energy-powered aluminum smelting and the use of recycled aluminum. The vehicle contains 23% recycled aluminum, while 34% of its aluminum content comes from smelters powered by renewable electricity.
Interior materials also include recycled and bio-attributed content, with options such as Bio-attributed MicroTech and Tailored Knit upholstery made partly from recycled PET waste.

In the UK, the Polestar 4 SUV starts at £54,750 for the Rear motor version.
The Dual motor model starts at £60,750, while the Polestar 4 SUV with the Performance pack is available from £68,250.
Production began in Busan during the second quarter of 2026, with the first customer deliveries scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026.
With up to 391 miles of WLTP range, 544 hp, nearly 1,700 litres of total storage and new features such as V2L and Camping mode, the Polestar 4 SUV gives buyers a more practical alternative to the coupe-shaped version without abandoning the brand’s performance-focused character.
