Lucid is rolling out a major software update for the Air electric sedan, bringing a redesigned interface, faster controls, smarter EV navigation and expanded Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.
Called Air UX 3.0, the new software experience is included with Software Version 2.11.0 and draws heavily from the interface introduced in the Lucid Gravity electric SUV.
The update begins rolling out to eligible Lucid Air vehicles through an over-the-air update on September 29, 2026. For some older Air models, however, a hardware upgrade is required before the new interface can be installed.
Air UX 3.0 is designed to make the Lucid Air’s digital experience faster and easier to navigate. The update focuses on frequently used functions, reducing the number of steps required to access media, navigation, vehicle settings and other controls.
A redesigned Home experience now appears on the Right Cockpit Panel. Swipeable cards provide quick access to commonly used functions such as media controls, vehicle settings, phone calls, saved home and work destinations, and nearby charging stations.
The system can also display temporary cards when certain vehicle functions are active. Swiping one of these cards opens the corresponding full application on the Pilot Panel.
Another addition is Quick Controls, which can be accessed by swiping down from the top of the Pilot Panel. This provides faster access to frequently used settings without requiring drivers to navigate through multiple menus.
Lucid has also improved movement between navigation, media, vehicle controls and other applications across the Air’s cockpit displays.
Air UX 3.0 also brings several changes to user profiles.
Profile switching is now faster, while the Primary profile receives greater control over linked vehicle keys. Lucid has also simplified the process of resetting the Guest profile.
For additional security, exiting Guest profile now includes a PIN-protected process. The update also introduces six-digit PIN authentication for supported functions.
Navigation receives a significant update with a redesigned dual-screen experience.
Lucid Air drivers will gain access to features including Favorites and Auto Dark Mode, while EV routing becomes more customizable.
Drivers can configure routes according to preferred charging networks, charging adapter compatibility and the minimum battery range they want remaining when reaching their destination.
These changes are particularly relevant for long-distance EV trips, where charging availability and compatibility can have a major impact on route planning.
Lucid is also expanding the integration of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with Air UX 3.0.
Both platforms receive improvements to performance and reliability and can now occupy the full right side of the Cockpit Display. The expanded area provides more room for navigation, music, phone calls, messaging and other smartphone-based functions.
Both wireless and USB connections are supported.
The larger display area should make smartphone-based navigation and media controls easier to use while keeping more of the driver’s preferred phone experience visible on the vehicle’s screens.
Air UX 3.0 is being delivered as part of Software Version 2.11.0 through an over-the-air update to eligible Lucid Air vehicles.
However, Lucid says 2022, 2023 and some 2024 model-year Air vehicles require an infotainment processor upgrade to support the new software experience.
In the United States, the hardware upgrade costs $950, including installation and excluding applicable taxes. Lucid says pricing for other markets will be announced separately.
Owners can contact Lucid Customer Care to determine whether their vehicle is eligible and whether the hardware upgrade is available.
The software update itself does not represent a new vehicle generation, but it significantly changes how Air owners interact with the vehicle’s infotainment and cockpit systems.
